Okay, so I’ve been seeing this “hardest escape room in the world” thing floating around online, and you know I can’t resist a challenge. I’m a sucker for puzzles, and the idea of a super tough escape room? I was so in.
First, I did some digging. Found a few places claiming the title, but one kept popping up: “The Laboratory” by a company called “The Escape Game”. Apparently, it has a super low success rate, like only 20% or something crazy. That’s all I needed to hear. I booked a slot for me and three friends.

The Setup
We arrived, got the usual briefing – you know, “don’t break anything”, “work as a team”, blah blah blah. The room itself looked like, well, a lab. White walls, metal tables, beakers everywhere, the whole nine yards. It was pretty intimidating, to be honest.
Getting Started (and Stuck)
We dove in, and immediately things got intense. There were so many clues! We were finding lockboxes, deciphering codes on charts, fiddling with weird machinery. It was overwhelming, but in a good way. I mean, we wanted a challenge, right?
- We spent a good 15 minutes just trying to figure out the first lock. It was a combination lock, but the numbers were hidden in this crazy sequence on a poster. Finally, Sarah spotted the pattern. Boom! First win.
- Then there was this whole thing with UV lights. We found a UV flashlight, and suddenly all these hidden messages appeared on the walls. It was like being in a spy movie! That led us to another key, another puzzle.
The Middle Mess
Things got really hairy in the middle. We hit a wall, big time. There was this one puzzle involving chemical formulas – I swear, I haven’t looked at a periodic table since high school. We were stumbling around, guessing at combinations, getting nowhere. We must have wasted a solid 20 minutes on that thing. Frustration was definitely setting in.
We started arguing a little – you know how it is when you’re under pressure. But then, Mark had this breakthrough. He realized we’d missed a tiny detail on one of the beakers. A small, almost invisible number. That was the key! We plugged it in, and… click!
The Final Stretch
With that hurdle overcome, we got our momentum back. We were flying through the last few puzzles. There was this cool one with magnets and laser beams – seriously, who comes up with this stuff?! – and another one where we had to rewire a circuit board. My friend, John, is an engineer, so he took the lead on that one. He nailed it.
Finally, with like two minutes left on the clock, we found the last key. We slammed it into the final lock, yanked it open, and… we were out! We actually did it.
Honestly, it was one of the most exhilarating experiences. The adrenaline rush was insane. We were all high-fiving and yelling. “Hardest escape room in the world”? Maybe. But we conquered it. And that feeling? Priceless.
