Okay, so, I’ve been diving into this whole “Women in Tech Seattle” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey. I started off by just wanting to see what was out there, you know? Just dipping my toes in the water. I went to their webpage and try to figure out what they actually do.
First Steps into the Community

I hit up a couple of their online events. I registered their online event by filling out my basic information. I saw their introduction of what this community is aiming for. They said they are a place for women to learn and grow in tech. They want to build a supporting space for us. Totally chill, super welcoming. It felt good to just be in a space with other women who are into the same stuff. We talked about our own projects, the challenges we’ve faced being women in this field, and just general tech gossip. It was refreshing, to say the least.
Getting More Involved
After those initial hangouts, I decided to go deeper. I applied for their mentorship program. I filled out a form, which was pretty straightforward. And the next thing I know, I’m matched with this amazing mentor who’s been in the industry for like, 15 years. We had regular online calls. She gave me so much advice on everything from dealing with tricky work situations to planning my career path. And she shared her own stories, which was great. Honestly, it was a game-changer for me.

Exploring Further Opportunities

But it wasn’t just about the mentorship. I got involved in their offline networking events to expand my connections. They also shared job postings and told us about some scholarships and internships, which was super helpful. I mean, who doesn’t love a good scholarship opportunity, right? And I heard some of them are even trying to do some activities to help women find a job. I start to think about applying for another program they called Reverse Mentorship. It seems to provide senior leaders with a chance to learn something.
Wrapping It Up

I’ve met some incredible people, learned a ton, and honestly, it’s just made me feel more confident and supported in my tech journey.
