Okay, so the other day, I was scrolling through, you know, the usual – news feeds, social media, the whole shebang. And it just hit me how utterly dumb a lot of the political stuff is. I mean, really, really dumb. So, I decided to, like, actually do something about it instead of just doomscrolling.
First, I grabbed my notebook – a real, physical notebook, not some fancy app. I find writing stuff down helps me think better, you know?

Digging In
I started by listing out all the political topics that were bugging me the most. It was a pretty long list, I gotta admit. Things like the constant bickering, the obvious hypocrisy, the way people just blindly follow their “side” without even thinking… yeah, all that fun stuff.
Then, I picked one topic – just one, to keep myself from getting overwhelmed. Let’s say it was, uh, politicians promising things they clearly can’t deliver. Classic, right?
- I spent some time just Googling around, looking for specific examples. Not hard to find, believe me.
- I jotted down the names of the politicians, the specific promises they made, and – this is key – what actually happened afterward. Did they follow through? Did they even try? Usually, the answer was a big, fat NO.
- Then I looked for explanations, alternative point of views, and justifications.
My “Aha!” Moment
The thing is, the more I dug, the more I realized it wasn’t just about individual politicians being jerks. (Though, let’s be honest, some of them are.) It’s about the whole system. The way it encourages short-term thinking, cheap sound bites, and appealing to the lowest common *, of course, I noticed many issues were not black and white.
After a few hours of this, I sat back and looked at my notes. It was…depressing, to be honest. But also kind of empowering. Because now, instead of just feeling vaguely annoyed by the “stupid politics,” I had actual facts and examples to back up my feelings.
So, yeah, that’s what I did. It wasn’t exactly fun, but it was definitely better than just passively consuming all the political garbage out there. I highly recommend trying it sometime. Just pick a topic, do some digging, and see what you find. You might be surprised – or maybe not – at how stupid it all really is.
