Well, let me tell you, that Tom Brady, he’s a big name around here, even for us folks who don’t follow sports much. But my grandson, he’s crazy about him. Says he’s the best quarterback, whatever that is. And he’s always going on about these Tom Brady sports cards. I swear, that boy spends all his money on them.
He keeps telling me they’re gonna be worth a fortune someday. Says that Tom Brady cards, especially them rookie ones, are like gold. I told him, “Boy, you better be right, spending all your money like that!”
He showed me some of them once. Just little pieces of cardboard with Tom Brady’s picture on ’em. Some of ’em have his signature too, which my grandson says makes ’em even more valuable. He calls it an autograph. I just call it scribblin’.
He’s got a whole bunch of ’em, all different kinds. Some are shiny, some are plain, some have him in different uniforms. He says some are from when Tom Brady was with the Patriots and others are from when he was with the Buccaneers. I don’t know the difference, to be honest. All I know is that he seems to like ’em.
My grandson, he goes online to buy them Tom Brady cards. Says there’s a whole world out there of folks buying and selling them. He showed me this place called eBay. It’s like a giant flea market, but on the computer. Says you can find anything on there, even them rare Tom Brady cards.
- Rookie cards – My grandson says these are the most important.
- Cards with Tom Brady’s autograph – He says these are worth a lot.
- Cards from different years – He has some from 2000, some from 2021, all sorts.
And there is another place, he call it Amazon, also a big place for selling and buying. He said there are a lot of Tom Brady football cards there. You can even find some with Tom Brady’s autograph. It is crazy how much they want for a piece of paper. But my grandson said it is good to buy these. He told me, “Grandma, these are good deal!”
He’s always looking for deals, my grandson. Says you gotta be smart about it. You can’t just buy any old card. You gotta find the ones that are gonna be worth something. He’s always reading about it online, trying to figure out which ones are the best.
He even told me about some Tom Brady jersey that sold for a whole heap of money. Said it was the one he wore in some big game. People are crazy, I tell ya. Paying that much for an old shirt. That man, he sure is something special. He said the jersey sold for $480,000. That’s more money than I’ve seen in my whole life. All for a sweaty shirt! But this Tom Brady, he’s a big shot. People really love him. Enough to pay a fortune for his old clothes, I guess.
But you know, most of them old cards, they ain’t worth a dime. My grandson, he knows that. He’s careful about which ones he buys. He says you gotta check the “sold” listings on eBay to see what people are actually paying. That’s how you know if a card is worth anything.
Sometimes he goes to those sports shops to look for them Tom Brady sports cards. He said there are shops that just sell these things. People who work there can tell you which card is good. I don’t know about all of that. I guess if you’re into it, it makes sense.
I guess it’s like anything else. Some folks collect stamps, some collect coins. My grandson, he collects Tom Brady cards. It’s his thing, I suppose. As long as he’s happy, that’s all that matters.
But I still think he’s crazy, spending all his money on those little pieces of cardboard. But he says it’s an investment. He says someday, they’ll be worth a lot more. I hope he’s right. For his sake, I really do.
He keeps telling me, “Grandma, these Tom Brady sports cards are gonna make me rich!” I just shake my head and smile. He’s a good boy, even if he is a little crazy about his Tom Brady cards.
I don’t understand it, but I love him. And if collecting these cards makes him happy, then who am I to judge? Maybe one day he’ll prove me wrong. Maybe those Tom Brady cards really will be worth a fortune. Stranger things have happened, I suppose.
