My Little Experiment with an American Flag Tech Suit
So, I got my hands on one of those American flag tech suits. You know the ones, super tight, supposed to make you glide through the water like a torpedo, and covered in stars and stripes. Why? Well, sometimes you just feel like doing something a bit different, a bit loud.
Getting it wasn’t hard, found it online easy enough. When the package arrived, I pulled it out. First thought? Wow, that’s bright. Like, really bright. The material felt weird too, super thin but stiff, almost like paper. Didn’t feel like any swimsuit I’d owned before.

The Squeeze
Alright, time to try it on. Let me tell you, getting into a tech suit is a workout itself. It’s not like pulling on your regular swim trunks. This thing fights back. I started the process, inching it up bit by bit. Felt like I was trying to squeeze into something two sizes too small, which I guess is the point?
- Took me a good 10 minutes.
- Lots of awkward hopping and pulling.
- Seriously thought I might rip it.
- Once on, it felt like a second skin. A very, very tight second skin.
Standing there, looking in the mirror, it was definitely a statement. You couldn’t miss me, that’s for sure. Felt kind of powerful, but also a bit ridiculous. Like wearing a superhero costume, but for swimming.
Into the Water
I took it down to the pool. Felt a bit self-conscious walking onto the deck, not gonna lie. But once I hit the water, things changed. The compression felt… good. Like it was holding everything together. And the water definitely seemed to slide off it differently. Did I feel faster? Yeah, I think so. It wasn’t magic, I didn’t suddenly turn into an Olympian, but there was a noticeable difference in how I moved through the water. Less drag, maybe? Felt smoother.
I swam a few laps, did some sprints. The suit stayed put, no issues there. It wasn’t uncomfortable in the water, just really, really snug. Getting out of it wet was almost as much fun as getting into it dry.
Final Thoughts
So, the American flag tech suit. Was it worth it? For me, yeah, it was a fun thing to try. It’s not something I’d wear for just splashing around or a casual swim. It’s definitely a piece of gear for when you’re trying to go fast, or maybe just trying to stand out.
Honestly, part of me just wanted to wear something unapologetically bold. Sometimes you just gotta put on the bright colors and see what happens. It felt good to push myself, both getting into the suit and in the water. It’s a piece of tech, sure, but wearing it was more about the feeling. A bit silly, a bit serious, and definitely memorable. Not an everyday thing, but cool to have done it.
