Okay, so I was diggin’ into this whole SeaWorld thing, right? And I stumbled upon this guy, Howard Garrett. Now, I’m not really into all that animal rights stuff, but his name kept poppin’ up, so I got curious. What was howard garetts job at sea world?
First, I tried to look for something useful, but all I got was some study materials with flashcards. There were some questions about SeaWorld trainers, but nothing about Howard.

Then I started sifting through articles about orca training. It’s pretty basic stuff, like using rewards and signals. They mentioned the first orca show in 1965 with Shamu, and how some dude named Edward “Ted” Griffin killed her mom during capture. Dark stuff, man.
I also found out that SeaWorld stopped letting trainers get in the water with the whales after some incidents. Doesn’t really matter to me, but I guess it’s a big deal for them.
There was also some news from 1993 about helping an orca named Keiko, but it didn’t have anything about Howard, either.
It seems like Howard Garrett wasn’t actually an employee at SeaWorld. He’s more like, one of those activists who’s always yellin’ about the whales.
So, yeah, after all that, I figured out Howard Garrett didn’t have a “job” at SeaWorld. He just cares a lot about those orcas. Mystery solved, I guess.
- SeaWorld uses positive reinforcement to train orcas.
- Shamu was the star of the first orca show, and her capture was brutal.
- Trainers don’t do water work with orcas anymore.
- There was an effort to help an orca named Keiko in 1993.
- Howard Garrett is probably an activist, not a SeaWorld employee.
Key things I found:
That’s all I’ve got for now. Maybe I’ll look into those animal rights groups later, but for now, I’m gonna go watch some cat videos. Peace out!
