Alright, so let me tell you about my World Skydiving Day experience. It was a blast! Seriously, one of the craziest things I’ve ever done.
It all started with me booking a slot a few weeks back. I’d been wanting to try skydiving for ages, and when I saw it was World Skydiving Day, I thought, “What the heck? Let’s do this!” Found a place that seemed legit, checked their reviews (you gotta, right?), and signed up.

The day itself was… intense. Woke up super early, drove out to the drop zone. It’s always further than you think, isn’t it? Got there, checked in, and then came the briefing. This is where things started feeling real. They went through all the safety stuff, how to position yourself, what to do in case of emergencies – the whole nine yards. I was trying to pay attention, but honestly, I was just a ball of nerves.
Then they suited me up. Harness, jumpsuit, helmet, goggles. Felt like an astronaut, but way more terrified. Met my tandem instructor, a guy named Dave. Seemed super chill, which helped. He double-checked everything, made sure the harness was tight, and gave me a pep talk. “You’re gonna love it,” he said. I wasn’t so sure.
We boarded the plane. It was tiny! Crammed in with a bunch of other people, all geared up and ready to jump. The climb was slow, and the anticipation was killing me. I could see the ground getting further and further away. My stomach was doing somersaults.
Finally, we reached altitude. Dave opened the door, and that’s when the reality hit me. The wind was insane! We shuffled towards the edge, and he gave me the final instructions. “Ready?” he yelled over the wind. I think I nodded, but I’m not sure.
And then we jumped.
Holy crap. That freefall was the most insane, exhilarating, terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced. The wind was roaring in my ears, my cheeks were flapping, and I was just screaming. I’m pretty sure I blacked out for a second there.
After what felt like forever (but was probably only a minute), Dave pulled the ripcord. The parachute opened with a jolt, and suddenly everything was quiet. Peaceful, even. We were floating, just gliding through the air. The view was incredible. I could see for miles in every direction. It was surreal.

Dave pointed out some landmarks, told me a bit about the area. We did a few turns, and then started our descent. The landing was surprisingly smooth. We just kind of slid in on our butts. I was a wobbly, shaky mess, but grinning from ear to ear.
Would I do it again? Absolutely. It’s an experience you’ll never forget. If you’re even remotely thinking about skydiving, just do it. Don’t wait for World Skydiving Day. Find a reputable place, book a jump, and get ready for the ride of your life.

I also grabbed some photos and a video from the dropzone, a bit pricy, but hey, memories!
