Okay, so I decided to mess around with Fark’s politics section today. First, I went to the Fark website. It’s got this weird, old-school vibe, you know? Reminds me of the internet back in the day.
So, I found the politics tab. They’ve got all sorts of news stories and stuff there, submitted by the users. Apparently, it’s a whole community thing. People can submit their own links, which is pretty cool, I guess.

Getting Into the Weeds
- I started by just reading some of the headlines. Lots of political stuff, as you’d expect. Some of it is pretty serious, but they mix in some humor and satire too.
- Then I dove into the comments. That’s where the real action is. People are debating, arguing, and sometimes just plain insulting each other. It’s a bit of a mess, honestly.
- I noticed that some people seem to be really into it, like they spend all day on there. They’ve got their own inside jokes and stuff. It’s a bit like its own little world.
I even tried submitting a link myself. It was pretty easy. You just paste in the URL, add a title, and choose a category. Then you wait to see if it gets approved by the moderators. Mine didn’t get picked, sadly. I guess it wasn’t funny enough or something.
My Takeaway
Overall, it was an interesting experience. Fark politics is definitely a unique corner of the internet. It’s not for everyone, but it’s got its own charm, I suppose. You can tell it’s been around for a while, and the community is pretty tight-knit. It’s kinda cool that they let regular folks submit news and comment, even the guy named Drew Curtis created this whole thing himself. That’s pretty impressive.
I don’t think I’ll be spending all my time on Fark or anything, but it was fun to check out. It’s like a little time capsule of internet culture. If you’re into politics and you like a bit of a rough-and-tumble discussion, you might enjoy it. Just be prepared for some strong opinions and the occasional troll. I also heard if you don’t subscribe to their thing, you can still get their newsletter for free for like a month or something. I didn’t do that but seems like a good way to try it out.
Anyway, that’s my Fark adventure for the day. Back to the real world now. I think I need a break from all that online arguing.
