Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about folks who ain’t what they say they are. We call it “stealin’ valor,” and it ain’t right, not one bit. You see, some folks go around pretendin’ to be heroes, sayin’ they fought in wars and did all sorts of brave things, but it’s all just a big pile of hogwash.
What is this “stealin’ valor” thing anyway?

It’s like this, you got some fella, puffin’ out his chest, wearin’ medals he didn’t earn, tellin’ stories about battles he never fought in. He’s tryin’ to get respect and admiration, but he ain’t deservin’ of it. He’s a fake, a phony, a liar, plain and simple.
Now, why does this matter to us regular folks? Well, it matters because it’s disrespectful to the real heroes, the ones who actually put their lives on the line. Those brave men and women, they went through hell and back, and they deserve our respect and gratitude. To have some fella come along and pretendin’ to be one of them, it just ain’t fair.
- It cheapens the sacrifices of real soldiers.
- It makes it harder to trust people.
- It’s just plain wrong, morally.
And it ain’t just about soldiers, you know. You see this kinda thing in other places too. People pretendin’ to be doctors, lawyers, big shots of all kinds. They do it for the same reason, to get somethin’ for nothin’. To get respect, or money, or maybe just attention.
But it all boils down to the same thing: dishonesty. And let me tell you, dishonesty don’t get you nowhere good in the long run. Maybe you can fool some folks for a while, but eventually the truth comes out. And when it does, you ain’t gonna have nothin’ left but shame.
So, what do we do about these folks?
Well, the first thing is, we don’t support ’em. We don’t give ’em the attention they crave. We don’t buy their products, if they’re tryin’ to sell us somethin’. We don’t hire ’em for jobs they ain’t qualified for.
We call ’em out, when we see ’em. Now, I ain’t sayin’ you gotta go startin’ a fight or nothin’, but you can certainly let ’em know you ain’t buyin’ their story. You can ask questions, poke holes in their claims. You can let other people know what’s goin’ on.

And most importantly, we can teach our young’uns the value of honesty. We can teach ’em that it’s always better to be truthful, even when it’s hard. We can teach ’em to respect the real heroes, the ones who earn their stripes the hard way.
You see, it’s all about ethics, about doin’ what’s right. Most companies, they got rules about bein’ honest and doin’ things the right way. And they make all their workers sign papers sayin’ they’ll follow them rules. That’s ’cause doin’ business right is important, and lyin’ and cheatin’ ain’t the way to go.
Some people, they cross the line because they got problems in their head. Maybe they want attention so bad they’ll lie to get it. Maybe they got somethin’ to prove. Maybe they just don’t know right from wrong.
It’s like when someone sneaks office supplies home from work, or when they make up bigger numbers on their expense reports to get more money back. That’s bad enough, but pretending to be a war hero? That’s a whole different level of wrong. It makes folks like me, who seen real hardship, it just makes our blood boil.
Think about it like a chimney, this “stealin’ valor” thing. Each lie is like a brick, and the faker keeps buildin’ that chimney higher and higher. It might look impressive from the outside, but it ain’t built on nothin’ solid. And eventually, it’s gonna crumble and fall. And when it does, everyone will see what it really was – just a pile of lies.
Instead of tryin’ to take things that ain’t theirs, people should focus on doin’ good. We got power as folks who buy things, and folks who work. We can choose to support businesses that are honest and do things right. We can choose to call out the fakes and the liars. And we can choose to teach our young’uns that honesty is always the best policy.
So, that’s what I think about folks who “steal valor”. They ain’t worth the time of day, and they sure ain’t gonna get any of my hard-earned money. We need to stick together, support the real heroes, and make sure that honesty and integrity are the values we live by.
