Okay, so “theatre of politics,” right? Sounds kinda fancy, but it’s really just about how politics is like a big show. I wanted to see this in action, so I decided to dive in and see what I could find, you know like getting the my hand dirty.
Digging into Local Council Meetings
First, I checked out my local council’s website. Found their meeting schedule – boring, right? But I figured that’s where the “show” would be. I marked the next meeting in my calendar. Gotta see how these guys operate in the real world, not from online videos.

The Live “Performance”
The day arrived, and I went to the meeting. It was in this old, kinda stuffy room. There were a few other people there, mostly older folks. I sat in the back, trying to blend in, and observe as much as i can.
The council members walked in, all serious-like. They sat at this big table, and the meeting started. Right away, I noticed the “performance.”
- One guy kept interrupting everyone.
- Another one seemed to be reading from a script.
- A lady was very dramatic with her hand gestures.
It was all very…theatrical. They were debating some local issue – I think it was about parking permits or something – but it felt like they were acting out roles. Like, “The Angry Councillor,” “The Smooth Talker,” “The Concerned Citizen.” It was way more interesting than I expected, but not in a good way, you know?
Post-Meeting Thoughts
After the meeting, I walked out feeling kinda weird. It was like watching a play, but the stakes were real. These people were making decisions that affected my town, and it all felt so…staged. I started thinking about how much of politics is just for show. And that is the reality i observed.
The whole experience was like reality tv show, but it give me a totally new perspective on how those councils work.
