Okay, so I’ve been trying to get healthier lately, not like, supermodel healthy, just, you know, better. I decided to document my journey and I titled it “the healthiest you”. I’m no expert, but I figure sharing what I did might help someone else out there.
Phase 1: Kicking the Sugar Habit (Mostly)
First thing I tackled was my insane sugar intake. I’m talking, like, candy bars for breakfast bad. So, I started small. I switched from regular soda to diet. That was rough for the first few days, ngl, but I stuck with it.

- Day 1-3: Headaches, cravings, the whole nine yards. Almost caved and bought a giant bag of gummy bears.
- Day 4-7: Started feeling a little less sluggish. Still wanted the sugar, but it wasn’t as intense.
- Week 2 onwards: Actually started enjoying the taste of the diet stuff. Who knew?
I also swapped out my sugary cereal for oatmeal. Added some fruit to make it less…blah. It’s not a donut, but it does the trick.
Phase 2: Actually Moving My Body
Next up: exercise. I’m the queen of “I’ll start tomorrow” when it comes to working out. So, I decided to start with something super easy: walking.
I downloaded a step-tracking app and aimed for 10,000 steps a day. At first, it seemed impossible. I was barely hitting 3,000!
- Week 1: Lots of short walks around the block. My legs were surprisingly sore.
- Week 2: Started taking the stairs instead of the elevator. (My office is only on the 3rd floor, so it’s not that impressive).
- Week 3: Actually hit 10,000 steps a few times! Felt pretty darn good.
I’m still working on incorporating more “real” workouts, but the walking has been a game-changer. I have more energy, and I’m not crashing at 3 PM every day.
Phase 3: Water, Water Everywhere
I used to be chronically dehydrated. Seriously, I’d go days with just coffee and soda. (I know, I know, it’s terrible.)
So, I bought a giant water bottle and made it my mission to finish it every day. I added lemon sometimes to make it a little more exciting.
- The Result? My skin looks better, I have fewer headaches, and I just generally feel…better. It’s amazing what staying hydrated can do.
Phase 4: Sleep More!
To get a healthier life, I realized that sleeping well is really important. I use to stay up very late.

- Try:I tried to sleep before 11:00 pm, which I thought was impossible.
- Struggle:It was really hard in the first few days.
- Success!:But after one week, I kind of got used to it. And I felt so good in the morning!
The Takeaway (So Far)
Look, I’m not going to lie, it’s been a process. There are days when I still eat a whole bag of chips. But overall, I’m feeling so much better than I did a few months ago. It’s not about being perfect, it’s about making small, sustainable changes. And that, I think, is the key to becoming “the healthiest you”. I’m still on my journey, but it’s been good so far!
