Okay, so, a few days ago, I started on this little project that’s been on my mind. It’s about that crystal egg from “Risky Business.” Yeah, the one that Tom Cruise’s character gets all worked up about in the movie. I’ve always thought it was pretty cool, so I decided to get one for myself.
I started by looking around online, seeing if anyone knew who made the original egg in the movie. I saw some people say it was from some company called Steuben Glass Works. But then others swore it was an Orrefors. Well, I did some more digging, trying to find out where they were sold, who made them, that sort of thing.

- Found a bunch of forum posts and old articles.
- Some said it could be found in New York.
- Others mentioned South Carolina.
So, I started calling around, you know, hitting up some antique shops, some glass places, that kind of stuff. Most people didn’t even know what I was talking about, like I was speaking a different language or something. But then I got lucky.
I called up this one little shop in New York, and the guy there, he knew what I was talking about. But there’s no stock. Then I remembered I saw it could be found in South Carolina. So, I called up another shop there. Bingo! They had one that was really similar, though not exactly the same. They told me it was an Orrefors, just like in the movie. I was like, “Alright, I’ll take it!”
Waiting for it to get here was a pain, I was so excited. I kept checking the tracking, like, every five minutes. Finally, it arrived today. And you know what? It’s awesome. It’s this beautiful, clear crystal egg, and it’s got a good weight to it. It’s not some cheap knock-off, you can tell it’s quality.
Bringing It All Together
I put it up on my shelf, right next to my other movie stuff. It looks great there. I gotta say, this whole thing was a bit of an adventure. But it was worth it. Now I’ve got my own little piece of “Risky Business” right here at home. And you know what? It makes me smile every time I look at it.
So yeah, that’s my story about the crystal egg. It wasn’t easy, but I tracked it down. It just goes to show, if you really want something, and you put in the effort, you can usually find a way to get it.
