Okay, so today I decided to bake something I’d never tried before – Texas Tech Cookies. I’d heard about them, seen pictures, but never actually tasted one. Let’s see how this goes!
Getting Started
First, I gathered all my ingredients. This seemed like a pretty standard cookie recipe, so I wasn’t too worried. Flour, sugar, butter, eggs, the usual suspects. I also made sure I had chocolate chips and, because I like a little extra something, some chopped pecans.

Mixing It Up
I started by creaming together the butter and sugars. I used my trusty stand mixer, but you could totally do this by hand if you’re feeling strong. Then, I cracked in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. In a separate bowl, I whisked together the dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, salt. Nothing fancy here.
Next, I slowly added the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. I’m always careful not to overmix at this stage, because nobody wants a tough cookie. Finally, I stirred in the chocolate chips and pecans. The dough looked pretty delicious at this point, I’m not gonna lie.
Baking Time!
I preheated my oven to 375°F (190°C). Then I dropped rounded tablespoons of dough onto baking sheets. I made sure to leave some space between each cookie, because I knew they’d spread out while baking. The cookies baked for about 10-12 minutes, or until they were golden brown around the edges.
The Moment of Truth
I pulled the cookies out of the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. They smelled amazing – that warm, buttery, chocolatey scent that just makes you happy.
Finally time to eat, They were crispy around the edges, soft in the middle, and loaded with chocolate and pecans. Success! I can definitely see why these cookies are so * are very good, next time I will add nuts, because I forgot this time, haha.
