Well, ain’t this somethin’. They went and built themselves a big ol’ shed, call it the Taylor Sports Complex over at that WSU school. Took ’em long enough, seems like they been talkin’ ’bout it forever. Used to be a bubble there, I heard. Like a big bouncy house or somethin’. Now it’s this fancy place with a roof and all.
Them rich folks, the Taylors, they coughed up the dough for it. Guess they got plenty to spare. Good for them, I say. They put their name on the building, so everyone knows it was them. Taylor Sports Complex, sounds real important-like. Bet them students are happy to have a place to run around inside when it’s rainin’ or snowin’ or whatever.
- They had a ribbon cuttin’ ceremony, like for a new store or somethin’. Probably had a bunch of folks in suits standin’ around clappin’. Don’t know why they make such a fuss. It’s just a buildin’.
- Took ’em 20 years to get it done, can you believe that? Guess they were busy doin’ other things. Or maybe they couldn’t agree on what color to paint it. Who knows.
Now them students can practice their sports indoors, whatever that means. Throwin’ balls, runnin’ around, jumpin’ and such. Keeps ’em outta trouble, I suppose. Better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’. Though I ain’t sure what good all that runnin’ around does ’em in the long run.
They talked about breakin’ ground, like diggin’ a hole or somethin’. Then they had to design it, figure out where the doors and windows go. Seems like a lot of work for a big shed. But I guess it’s important to them folks at the school.
WSU, that’s the college over there. Fancy learnin’ place. My grandkids went there for a bit, said it was alright. Learned some things, I guess. Now they got this new sports place to play in. Probably cost a pretty penny. Money well spent, they say. Washington State University, sounds real official.
They got other buildin’s they’re workin’ on, too. Somethin’ called the Schweitzer Engineering Hall. Don’t know what that is, but it sounds complicated. Guess they need a place for them engineerin’ fellas to do their thinkin’. Maybe they’ll build a new shed for the farmers next. We could use a place to store our hay.
So, this Taylor Sports Complex, it’s a big deal for WSU. Gives them students a place to stay outta the weather and do their sporty stuff. And them Taylors, they get their name on a buildin’. Everyone wins, I guess. ‘Cept maybe the taxpayers, who probably ended up payin’ for somethin’ or another. But that’s how it always goes, ain’t it?
Anyways, it’s there now. Big ol’ buildin’ standin’ tall. Taylor Sports Complex. WSU. Indoor practice facility. Whatever you wanna call it. It’s done. Now maybe they can move on to somethin’ else.
