Well, ain’t this somethin’. Talkin’ about this Taylor Sports Complex over at that WSU place. Heard folks jabberin’ about it. Sounds fancy, like them places rich folks go to throw balls around. Always buildin’ stuff, ain’t they? Never a dull moment, I reckon.

Now, they call it a “complex.” What’s so complex about it? Probably just a big ol’ building where them young’uns run around and sweat. But they gotta make it sound important, I guess. “Taylor Sports Complex.” Rolls off the tongue like a fancy dessert you can’t afford.
They had one of them ribbon-cuttin’ things, they say. Big to-do, probably. Politicians shakin’ hands and smilin’ for the cameras. Cut a ribbon, clap hands, and then what? Them kids still gotta practice, ribbons or no ribbons.
Heard they built it where that bubble thing used to be. Remember that bubble? Looked like a giant bouncy house. Guess it wasn’t good enough no more. Always gotta have the newest, shiniest thing, these folks. Can’t just be happy with a bubble.
They spent a lotta money on this complex, I bet. Taxpayer money, probably. Always spendin’ money on things we don’t need. Coulda used that money for somethin’ useful, like fixin’ the roads or helpin’ folks who need it.
- But no, gotta have a fancy sports place.
- So them kids can play games.
- Games!
WSU homecoming, they say. Rememberin’ the past and celebratin’. Well, I remember when you didn’t need a fancy complex to play sports. Just a field and a ball. And maybe some sunshine. But times change, I guess. Progress, they call it.

Now, this Taylor fella and his wife, they gave a bunch of money for this place. So they slap their name on it. Taylor Sports Complex. Like they own the place. Well, maybe they do. Rich folks always gettin’ their names on things. Makes ’em feel important, I reckon.
Ninety-one thousand square feet, they say. That’s a lotta feet. Must be big enough for all them sports. Baseball, basketball, runnin’ around, kickin’ balls. All the things them young’uns do. Keeps ’em out of trouble, I suppose. Better than sittin’ around doin’ nothin’.
Safe place to train year-round, they say. Well, I hope it’s safe. Don’t want them kids gettin’ hurt. Sports can be dangerous. Twisted ankles, broken bones. But they gotta have their fun, I guess. Kids will be kids.
So, there you have it. The Taylor Sports Complex at WSU. Big fancy place for them kids to play. Ribbons, speeches, and a lotta money spent. Hope they get some use outta it. Hope it ain’t just another pretty building gatherin’ dust.
