Okay, so the other day I was trying to find a specific type of store, and I got curious about businesses that might be closing down in my area. I’ve seen a few shops disappear lately, and it made me wonder what was going on with other local businesses. So I decided to do a little digging.
My Search Process
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up my usual search engine.

I typed in something like “business going out of business near me”. I figured that was a pretty straightforward way to find what I was looking for.
- At first, I tried some other, very similar phrases in my search.
- It gave me results like, stores offering “going out of business sales” and other phrases similar to it, but it’s wasn’t completely accurate.
I started scrolling through the results. I saw a bunch of listings for businesses, along with some news articles and blog posts.
I started clicking on some of the links that looked promising. Some of them were news stories about local businesses that were closing. Others were listings on websites that track business closures.
I spent a good amount of time reading through the information. I wanted to get a feel for which types of businesses were struggling and why. It was interesting to see the different reasons behind the closures – sometimes it was retirement, other times it was changing economic conditions.
What I Discovered
I noticed that some of the information I found was a bit outdated. A few of the businesses listed as closing had actually already shut their doors months ago. That was a bit frustrating, but I guess it’s hard to keep everything perfectly up-to-date.
I also realized that finding a truly comprehensive list of closing businesses is tough. There’s no single, perfect source of information. It’s more about piecing together clues from different places.
Even though it wasn’t super easy, I did manage to get a better sense of what’s happening in my local business community. I found out about a few places I didn’t know were closing, and it made me think about how important it is to support the local shops we have.

Overall, it was a worthwhile search. It wasn’t as simple as I initially thought, but I learned something, and that’s always a good thing. It definitely made me want to be more mindful of where I spend my money and try to support local businesses whenever I can.
