Okay, here’s my blog post, just like you asked!
Sports Coffee Table: My DIY Adventure
Alright folks, let me tell you about this crazy idea I had. I wanted a coffee table, but not just any coffee table. I wanted a sports-themed coffee table! I know, sounds kinda nuts, right? But stick with me.

So, first things first, I started by hitting up a local sports memorabilia shop. I was hoping to find some cool, unique items to use as the base of my table. I ended up scoring a bunch of old baseball bats, a couple of deflated basketballs, and a hockey stick that looked like it had seen better days. Perfect!
Next, I needed a tabletop. I decided to go with a piece of thick, tempered glass. I went to a glass shop and they cut me a piece to the size I wanted. It wasn’t cheap, but I figured it was worth it for the look I was going for.
Now came the fun part: assembling the base. I laid out the baseball bats in a circle, gluing them together at the ends with some heavy-duty wood glue. I used clamps to hold them in place while the glue dried. This took a couple of days, but I wanted to make sure it was super sturdy.
The basketballs were a bit trickier. I had to figure out a way to attach them to the bat base. I ended up drilling holes through the bats and using some long screws to secure the basketballs in place. It was a bit of a pain, but it worked!
For the hockey stick, I decided to use it as a decorative element. I cut it in half and attached each half to the sides of the bat base, creating a sort of “handle” effect. I think it added a nice touch.
Once the base was complete, I carefully placed the glass tabletop on top. I used some clear silicone adhesive to secure the glass to the base, just to make sure it wouldn’t slide around. And that was it! My sports coffee table was finally finished!
Here’s a quick rundown of the materials I used:

- Old baseball bats
- Deflated basketballs
- Hockey stick
- Tempered glass tabletop
- Wood glue
- Screws
- Silicone adhesive
Let me tell you, this project wasn’t easy. I ran into a few snags along the way. The glue didn’t always hold the way I wanted it to, and I had to re-glue a few pieces. And getting the basketballs to stay in place was a real challenge. But in the end, it was all worth it.
I’m super happy with how it turned out. It’s a unique, eye-catching piece that really reflects my personality. Plus, it’s a great conversation starter. Everyone who comes over comments on it. Would I do it again? Probably! Maybe with a different sports theme next time. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!
