Okay, so today I decided to finally tackle that project I’ve been putting off – setting up a basic online presence for a hypothetical sports store in Wenatchee. “Wenatchee Sports Store” is what I’m calling it for now, super original, I know.
First, I brainstormed what I wanted on the site. Nothing fancy, just a simple landing page to start. I figured I needed:

- A catchy headline.
- Some text about the store (even though it doesn’t exist).
- Maybe a picture of, like, sports equipment or something.
- Contact information, just in case.
I opened up my trusty text editor. And I started typing. I mean, that’s how you do it, right? Just start. I wrote some HTML. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a start. I put in a heading, some paragraphs, you know, the basic stuff.
The “Design” (If You Can Call It That)
Then came the fun part, or at least, what I thought would be fun. I tried to make it look, well, not terrible. I’m no designer, that’s for sure. I added in a picture I found. It was of some basketballs, looked sporty enough. Resized it a few times, it’s still blurry.
I played around colors. Nothing worked well. Everything was hard to read.
The “Content”
I filled in the blanks with some made-up text. Stuff like “Wenatchee’s premier destination for all things sports!” and “We’ve got gear for every athlete!” It’s all pretty generic, but hey, it’s a fake store, what do you expect?
I added a fake address and phone number at the bottom. You know, just in case someone actually thinks this is a real store and tries to call. Maybe I should put a disclaimer on there…
Finally, I saved the file, opened it in my browser, and… well, it’s there. It’s a webpage. It’s not going to win any awards, but it’s a start. I might actually try to make it look decent. Someday.
It’s crude, I know. But it’s done. I made a thing, that’s all. I learned basic steps, and next time I will not make it so bad. I will continue to try next time.
