Okay, here’s my blog post about researching Seattle tech companies, written in a casual, personal style:
So, I’ve been thinking about maybe, possibly, potentially switching jobs. And, well, Seattle’s always been on my radar. You know, the whole “tech hub” thing. I figured I’d do some digging and see what companies are actually out there.

First, I fired up my trusty old laptop. I needed a good list. My approach was to search the web, I began to type “tech companies in Seattle”.
Brain Dump Time
- Started Googling. Seriously, that’s where everything starts, right? I typed in stuff like “top tech companies Seattle,” “Seattle startups,” “best places to work Seattle tech.” You get the idea.
- Felt overwhelmed. Holy moly, there are a LOT of companies. Big ones, small ones, ones I’d never even heard of. My browser was quickly filling up with tabs.
- Made a spreadsheet. Okay, I needed to get organized. I created a simple spreadsheet with columns for company name, what they do (in like, really basic terms), and any notes I had (like “cool perks” or “heard bad things about culture”).
- Went Down Rabbit Holes. I’d click on a company website, then get distracted by their “careers” page, then end up reading employee reviews on some random site. It was… a process.
- Added to the Sheet.I made my spreadsheet more and more perfect.
After, many time of searching, clicking, and a bit of head-scratching, I had a pretty decent list going. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure I missed some gems, but it’s a start!.
Next steps? Probably narrow down the list to companies that actually fit what I’m looking for. Wish me luck!
