Okay, so I gotta tell you about this whole Seattle lighting thing I got into recently. I decided to update the lighting in my living room and I wanted to try something new. And since I live in Seattle, I thought, why not go with something that matches the city’s vibe? You know, that cool, kinda modern, kinda industrial look.
First thing I did was to look around my living room and decide what I really wanted to change. I started jotting down some ideas, thinking about the kind of mood I wanted to create. I wanted the space to feel cozy, but also bright enough for reading and working. That’s the starting point, man.

Next, I went to a few local stores here in Seattle. I checked out some lighting stores around Capitol Hill and Ballard – those places always have cool stuff. I snapped some photos of things that caught my eye and made a ton of notes on my phone. It’s kinda fun, you know, like being on a little treasure hunt.
- I looked at pendant lights, those are cool.
- Checked some track lighting, seemed a bit too much for my space.
- Found some interesting wall sconces, but weren’t quite right.
After hitting up a few places, I started to get a better idea of what I liked. I realized I was leaning towards something with a brushed metal finish and exposed bulbs. There’s something about that look that just feels very Seattle to me.
Making the Choice
So, I narrowed it down to a few options. There was this one pendant light that really stood out. It had this cool, almost steampunk vibe that I thought would look great above my reading nook. I also found these neat little table lamps with concrete bases and metal shades. They looked industrial and are pretty unique.
I ended up buying that pendant light and two of those table lamps. I figured they would work well together and give the room a cohesive look. Once I got them home, I started the installation process.
The pendant light was a bit tricky to hang. I had to call in my buddy, Mark, who’s pretty handy, to help me out. We managed to get it up there, and man, it looked even better than I imagined. The table lamps were a breeze, though. Just plugged them in and they were good to go.
Now, every time I walk into my living room, I’m stoked with how it all turned out. The lighting really does make a huge difference. It’s got that perfect Seattle vibe, and it makes the whole space feel more inviting and stylish. I should’ve done this project sooner!
