Okay, so I wanted to make a list of all the professional sports teams in Washington State. I figured it would be a fun little project and a good resource to have. Here’s how I went about it:
First, I brainstormed all the sports I could think of that might have pro teams. I came up with the obvious ones: football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and hockey.
Then, I started with the most well-known teams, the ones everyone talks about. Of course, I immediately thought of the Seattle Seahawks (football) and the Seattle Mariners (baseball). I’ve seen so many games on TV, those were easy!
Digging a Little Deeper
- Next, I remembered the Seattle Sounders FC. They’re a Major League Soccer team and pretty popular around here.
- I also added Seattle Storm. it is the women’s basketball team(WNBA).
- I also know there’s a hockey team, the Seattle Kraken, so I put that down too.
I felt like I was missing some, so I did some searching online. I just typed “professional sports teams Washington State” into the search bar and started looking through the results.
Finding More Teams
I discovered there’s another soccer team called OL Reign, also in the top women’s league. That’s cool!
I realized that I should maybe broaden my search to include “major” and “minor” league teams, since “professional” might be a bit too limiting.
That’s when I found some minor league baseball teams: the Tacoma Rainiers, the Spokane Indians, and the Everett AquaSox,Tri-City Dust Devils, and the Vancouver Canadians!
I also learned that there are lots of other sports out there, I wanted to keep this list to the “major” and “minor” leagues for the big sports, just to keep it manageable.
Finally, I organized everything by sport to create my list, and my work is done.
