Well, hey there, y’all! Let me tell ya somethin’ about this… uh… See-at-tul Sports thing. My grandkids, they always jabberin’ on about it, so I figured I’d try and make some sense of it for ya, the way I see it, ya know?
First off, they got this “See-at-tul See-hawks.” Big football team, they say. Always runnin’ around, smashin’ into each other. Sounds like a bunch of wild bulls in a china shop if you ask me! But folks get real worked up about ‘em. They got their “news” and their “headlines,” always somethin’ happenin’. Injuries, they call ‘em. Like when old Bessie the cow stepped on my foot last summer – same kinda thing, I reckon, just with more helmets.

Then there’s the “See-at-tul Mare-in-ners.” Baseball, they play. Now, baseball, that’s a bit more my speed. Used to watch my grandpappy play back in the day. Hit that ball a country mile, he did. These fellas, the Mare-in-ners, they got their “rosters” and “transactions.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just who’s playin’ and who ain’t, far as I can tell. And they got “stats” too. Numbers, numbers everywhere! Makes my head spin faster than a weathervane in a tornado.
- See-hawks News: All about the football team, what they doin’, who got hurt.
- Mare-in-ners News: Same thing, but for baseball. Who’s hittin’ good, who’s throwin’ good.
- Trades: When they swap players around. Like tradin’ chickens, only with more money involved.
- Rosters: Who’s on the team. Like a list of who’s comin’ to Sunday dinner.
- Schedules: When they playin’. Gotta know when to turn on the TV, I guess.
Now, this “710 ESPN See-at-tul” thing, they changed their name. Now they call themselves “See-at-tul Sports.” Guess they figured folks couldn’t spell out ESPN, huh? They talk about the See-hawks and the Mare-in-ners all day long. “Insider content,” they say. Sounds like gossip to me! But folks like listenin’, so what do I know? They on the radio, and probably on that there internet too, though I ain’t got no use for that contraption.
And there’s this “93.3 KJR,” another radio thing. They say they the “sports leader” in See-at-tul. Hmph! Sounds like a bunch of roosters crowin’ to me. Everybody wants to be the best, I guess. They talk about the See-hawks and the Mare-in-ners too. Seems like that’s all anyone cares about ’round here.
They got all sorts of ways to get this sports news. You got your radios, your TVs, and that there internet thing. Always somethin’ new, they say. “Playoff updates,” “drafts,” “key matchups”… So much to keep up with! It’s enough to make a body tired just thinkin’ about it. I’ll stick to watchin’ the chickens scratch in the yard, thank you very much.
But I tell ya, these folks in See-at-tul, they sure do love their sports. Get all riled up, cheerin’ and hollerin’. Reminds me of a barn raisin’, only with less hammerin’ and more beer drinkin’, from what I hear. And these fellas playin’, they make a good livin’, I bet. Runnin’ around and throwin’ balls. Wish I coulda made that kinda money just milkin’ cows!
Anyways, that’s the gist of it, as far as this old woman can figure. See-at-tul Sports, See-hawks, Mare-in-ners, radios, TVs, and a whole lot of fuss. It’s a whole different world than what I’m used to, but I guess it keeps folks entertained. And that’s somethin’, ain’t it? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. They probably more excitin’ than any of this sports stuff anyway!
So, if you wanna know ‘bout See-at-tul sports, now you know. It’s mostly just two teams, the See-hawks and the Mare-in-ners, and a whole bunch of folks talkin’ and writin’ ‘bout ‘em. And that’s all there is to it, far as I can see.
