Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole “mental health jobs in Seattle” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. Started out pretty simple, I just wanted to see what was out there, you know?
First thing I did was hit up some of the big job boards. I punched in “mental health jobs Seattle” and boom, a ton of stuff popped up. I saw a bunch of listings, like, 937 on one site alone! They had all sorts of things, like therapists, technicians, peer counselors – you name it.

Then I started browsing around, checking out different websites. One of them mentioned there are over 6,000 mental health jobs in the Seattle area. That’s a lot of opportunities!
I also found a site that specifically listed mental health counselor jobs in Seattle, and there were 72 of those. I saw a lot of variety in the listings: mental health technician, licensing associate, and mental health therapist positions were common. I kept clicking around, just to get a feel for what each job entailed.
Here’s what I started doing next:
- Checked out company websites. I figured it’d be smart to go straight to the source, right?
- Compared salaries. It’s good to know what the pay range is for different roles. I found out that many mental health careers pay pretty well, especially psychiatry. Psychiatry is also the highest-paying job for psychology majors, which I thought was an interesting fact.
- Read job descriptions carefully. Some of them can be a little vague, so I wanted to make sure I understood what I’d actually be doing.
Narrowing it down
After looking at all those listings, I realized I needed to narrow my focus a bit. I decided to look specifically at hospital jobs, just to see what that was like. I found 166 listings for hospital mental health jobs in Seattle on one site. Then I searched for “mental health therapist” jobs in Seattle and found about 260 of those jobs on another website. The sheer number of these jobs made me happy since I want to have as many options as possible.
I also searched for jobs that mentioned “mental health services” in their titles and found a few promising ones. I’m still in the process of digging deeper into those.
It’s been a lot of work, but I’m feeling pretty good about it. I’ve learned a ton about the mental health job market in Seattle, and I’m starting to get a better idea of what I might want to do. I mean, the number of jobs out there is crazy, and I am sure I can find what suits me the most!
