Hey everyone, so I tried making that healthy chocolate spread I saw floating around online. You know, the kind that claims to be all good for you and whatnot. I was curious, so I gave it a shot.
First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I grabbed some cocoa powder, the unsweetened kind, of course. Then, I got some sort of natural sweetener. I found some dates. I figured they’d be sweet enough. I also picked up some nuts. I think I went with almonds. Oh, and I needed some kind of liquid, so I just used regular milk.

I started by soaking the dates in hot water. I did this to make them soft. After about ten minutes, they felt pretty mushy, so I tossed them into my blender. Next, I added the almonds into the blender, and gave them a good blitz until they were all chopped up. I made sure to do this before adding the other stuff, so I ended up with fine little bits of almond.
Then I dumped in the cocoa powder and poured in the milk. I blended everything together, hoping it would turn into a smooth paste. It took a while, and I had to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender a few times. It was kind of a pain, to be honest. Finally I got it to what seemed like a good consistency.
I took a taste, and well, it wasn’t exactly like the chocolate spread you buy at the store. It was definitely chocolatey, but not as sweet as I expected. The dates gave it some sweetness, but it wasn’t overpowering. I guess that’s what makes it “healthy,” right?
I spread some on a piece of toast to see how it would be in a real-life situation. It was okay. Not bad, but not amazing. It did satisfy my chocolate craving a little, so I guess it worked.

- Almonds

Here’s what I used:
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll make this again. It was a fun experiment, but it was a bit of work. Plus, I think I still prefer the regular, not-so-healthy chocolate spread. But hey, if you’re looking for a healthier alternative, maybe you’ll like this. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Anyway, that was my little adventure in the kitchen. I just wanted to share what happened. Maybe someone else out there will find it helpful. Or at least get a good chuckle out of it. See ya next time!
