My Go with Wiz Sports
Alright, so I wanted to share my little adventure with this thing called Wiz Sports. Heard about it from a guy at work, actually. He was using it to track his jogging, kept talking about his stats and stuff. Me, I wasn’t doing much, you know? Needed a kickstart.
So, I thought, why not? Found it on the app store on my phone. Downloading was quick. Then came the setup. It asked the usual things: age, weight, what I wanted to achieve. I just put ‘get more active’, didn’t want anything too crazy. The setup process itself was fine, pretty standard, didn’t take too long.

First thing I did was take it on my morning walk. Just fired up the app, selected ‘Walking’, and stuck the phone in my pocket. Walked my usual route around the park. When I got back, I checked it. Okay, it showed the time, distance, and steps. Simple enough. It also mapped out where I walked, which was kinda neat, I guess.
I kept doing this for about a week. Just tracking walks. It was okay, nothing groundbreaking. Then I saw they had these challenges. There was one like ‘Walk 100 miles this month’ or something. Seemed like a lot, but I joined a shorter one first, maybe it was 30 miles? Can’t remember exactly. Having that goal definitely made me walk a bit longer some days, just to see the progress bar move.
Using it Day-to-Day
So, my routine became: wake up, get ready, turn on Wiz Sports, go walk. Simple. Sometimes I’d forget to turn it off right away when I got home, so the time would be a bit off. User error, my bad.
I also tried logging some other stuff I did at home, like basic workouts, push-ups, that sort of thing. They had an option to ‘Log Activity Manually’. It worked, but it felt a bit tedious typing it all in. Didn’t use that feature much after the first couple of times.
- Tracking walks: Easy, just press start and go.
- GPS mapping: Mostly accurate, sometimes a bit jumpy under trees.
- Challenges: Good motivation, seeing that progress.
- Manual logging: A bit clunky, didn’t stick with it.
- Battery use: Noticed my phone battery drained a bit faster on days I used it for longer walks. Expected, I suppose.
What I Reckon Now
After using Wiz Sports for maybe six weeks, I kinda hit my stride. I completed that walking challenge I joined, which felt good. It definitely helped me get moving more consistently at the start, mostly because I didn’t want to break the streak or fall behind on the challenge.
But, honestly? Once the novelty wore off and the challenge was done, I started using it less. I found I just went back to walking without obsessively tracking every step. Sometimes the app felt a bit busy too, lots of menus and options I never even touched.
So, my take? Wiz Sports was alright. It did what it said on the tin, basically. Tracked my walks, gave me a little push with the challenges. It wasn’t revolutionary, and the interface could be simpler, maybe. But for getting me off the couch for a bit? Yeah, it did the job for a while. Now, I just walk. No app needed most days.
