Alright, so you wanna know about this “black dog entertainment,” huh? I’ll tell ya what I know, the way I know how to tell it. Don’t expect no fancy words from me, I ain’t no scholar.

What’s this “Black Dog” all about?
Well, from what I gather, it ain’t about no fluffy puppy playing fetch, that’s for sure. This “Black Dog” thing, it’s like a movie or somethin’. Heard tell it’s set way out there, in some dusty town, near a desert. Imagine that! Sand everywhere, just like when the wind kicks up somethin’ fierce around harvest time. Only this ain’t our fields, this is some place called Gobi. Sounds lonely, don’t it?
This story takes place back in 2008, the year they had them Olympics in Beijing. Remember that? All them fancy athletes runnin’ and jumpin’. Well, in this town, they were busy chasin’ dogs, stray ones, you know, the kind that wander around lookin’ for scraps. They had this dog patrol team, gotta clean up the place before all them important folks showed up. Sounds like a lot of work if you ask me. Reminds me of tryin’ to keep the chickens outta the garden, always a fuss.
Who’s in it?
Now, there’s this fella, Lang, they call him. He ain’t no saint, been in trouble before, a convict, they say. Comes back to his hometown, this dusty place I was tellin’ ya about. He’s the main guy, I guess. The one they call “antihero.” Don’t know what that means exactly, but sounds like he ain’t all good, but maybe not all bad neither. Kinda like that old rooster we had, always peckin’ at the hens, but he’d still protect ’em from the hawks.

- This fella Lang, he’s played by some actor, Eddie Peng. Don’t know him, but folks seem to think he’s good.
- And there’s this fella Guan Hu, he made the whole thing, the director, they call him. He wrote it too, with some other folks. Must be smart, writin’ and all.
What’s it like?
Some folks say it’s like them old Western movies. You know, cowboys and horses, only this ain’t America, it’s China. And I reckon there ain’t too many cowboys in the desert, more like…lonely fellas, I guess. Lang, he’s one of them, quiet type, doesn’t say much, just goes about his business. Like my old man, he never talked much, but you always knew what he was thinkin’.
Why “Black Dog”?
Now, that’s a funny thing. Seems like it ain’t got nothin’ to do with the story, not really. Heard tell it’s about a real dog, a black one, a Labrador, they call it. This dog used to wander around where some musicians were makin’ music. Just a stray, I guess, roamin’ around at night, then sleepin’ all day. Maybe they just liked the sound of it, “Black Dog.” Sometimes things don’t need no big reason, they just are, you know?
Is it any good?

Well, I ain’t seen it myself, just heard things. Some folks say it’s pretty good. Not the kind of thing that makes you laugh, more the kind that makes you think. About life, and people, and maybe even dogs. Like that time old Bessie, our milk cow, got sick. We all thought she was gonna die, but she pulled through. Sometimes, things work out, even when they seem real bad.
Other stuff, like school dramas…
Now, I heard tell of some other shows, school things, about teachers and such. Not this “Black Dog” thing, mind you, somethin’ else. They say it’s good too, focuses on the teachers, not the kids. Which is a change, I reckon. Always hearin’ about the young’uns, but the teachers, they got stories too. Like that time Miss Johnson, down at the schoolhouse, she had to deal with that fire in the classroom. Brave woman, she was.
So, that’s all I know about this “black dog entertainment” and some other things. Hope it makes some sense to ya. It’s just a story, like all the others, some true, some not so much. But that’s life, ain’t it? A whole bunch of stories all mixed together.
