Well, howdy there! So, you wanna know about all them fancy goings-on in Parkersburg, WV, huh? Entertainment, they call it. Sounds mighty highfalutin, but I reckon it just means stuff to keep ya from gettin’ bored outta your skull. Alright, let’s see what this little town’s got cookin’.
First off, seems like they got a heap of music stuff. Concerts, they call ’em. Lots of folks singin’ and playin’ instruments. I seen some names on that there internet thingy… Waxy-something and Toad the Wet Sprocket… sounds kinda silly if ya ask me, but folks seem to like it. They got this Bruce fella too, and some fella named Cockburn, Lord have mercy! And a whole bunch more I ain’t never heard of. They play all over town, so you gotta keep your ears open.
And then there’s this Smoot fella’s place. Every year, ’round Christmas time, they put on a big show. Hometown Christmas, they call it. Local folks singin’ and dancin’ and such. Probably got some pretty costumes and all that. If you like that kinda stuff, it might be right up your alley.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do on the weekend, Parkersburg’s got you covered. Seems like there’s always somethin’ happenin’. Festivals, they call ’em sometimes. With food and music and all sorts of carryin’ on. Or maybe you’re into them meetups. Where folks get together and talk about… well, I ain’t rightly sure what they talk about, but they seem to enjoy it.
- Music things: Concerts, singin’, playin’ stuff. All over town.
- Smoot’s Hometown Christmas: Big show durin’ Christmas.
- Weekend stuff: Festivals, meetups, all sorts of things.
- Art shows: Folks showin’ off their paintin’s and such.
- Open mics: Anybody can get up and sing or tell jokes. Brave souls, I tell ya.
And if you’re one of them artsy types, they got art shows too. Folks paintin’ pictures and makin’ sculptures and all that. Some of it’s purdy, some of it’s… well, let’s just say I don’t always get it. But hey, to each their own, right?
They also have these things called open mics. Now, that’s somethin’ else. Anybody can get up there and sing a song or tell a joke or whatever they feel like doin’. Takes a lot of guts, if you ask me. I’d rather stick to singin’ in the shower where nobody can hear me.
Now, if you ain’t into all that music and art stuff, there’s other things to do too. Parkersburg’s got that Blennerhassett Island place. It’s a historical site, they say. On an island in the river. You can go take a boat ride and learn about the old days. I ain’t never been myself, but folks seem to like it.
And listen here, Parkersburg ain’t just about the fancy shows and such. It’s a good place to live, they tell me. Low crime, they say. And it don’t take forever to get where you need to go. Got good doctors and hospitals too, in case you get the sniffles or somethin’ worse. And the schools are supposed to be pretty good, for the young’uns. So, if you’re lookin’ for a place to raise a family or just settle down and enjoy your golden years, Parkersburg might be just the ticket.
So there you have it. A whole mess of stuff to do in Parkersburg, WV. From concerts to art shows to historical sites, there’s somethin’ for just about everybody. Now get out there and have some fun, ya hear?
One more thing, if you’re lookin’ for tickets to them concerts or whatever, you gotta look online or ask around. They don’t just hand ’em out on the street corner, you know. And make sure you check the dates and times, so you don’t show up on the wrong day and look like a fool. Not that I’ve ever done that, mind you…
