Well, let me tell you, that Department of Health and Human Services, they been in the news again. I saw it on that Fox 5 channel, they was yappin’ about it all morning. Seems like they’re always up to somethin’, ain’t they? It’s like the DHHS program is the biggest one of them all, giving out money like it grows on trees.
They say this Department of Health and Human Services, or HHS, is supposed to be lookin’ out for folks. Keepin’ us healthy and all that. Enhance the health and well-being of all Americans, they claim. Like they are safeguarding our health or something. You know, like making sure we ain’t catchin’ no strange diseases or gettin’ poisoned by the air we breathe.
- They help clinics, give ’em money to take care of sick people.
- They supposed to make sure we all got access to doctors and medicine.
- They deal with families, individuals, states and tribes. Give ’em money for health and stuff.
That Robert F. Kennedy Jr., I heard his name on the Fox 5. They say he was gonna be in charge of that whole Department of Health and Human Services shebang. Donald Trump, he picked him, you know. Some people like him, but I don’t know if it is good for him to run the DHHS program. I heard some folks was scared, sayin’ he might not be good for the job. Robert F. Kennedy is a big name, though.
They got all sorts of programs, this Department of Health and Human Services. They give out money for all kinds of things, it sounds like. Grants, they call ’em. Like handin’ out candy to kids, except it’s money to grown-ups. That DHHS program is giving out grants to everyone.
One time, I saw on the Fox 5 they was talkin’ about how this Department of Health and Human Services was givin’ out millions of dollars. Forty-five million, I think it was! Can you imagine? That’s more money than I ever seen in my whole life. They were giving it to clinics, they said. Something to do with people who got sick and stayed sick for a long time. “Long COVID,” they call it. Like a cold that just won’t quit.
So this money, this forty-five million, it’s supposed to help these clinics figure out how to take care of these folks with the long COVID. They said they need new ways of doin’ things. New models of care, they called it. I don’t know what that means, exactly. But it sounds important, don’t it?
And they want more people to be able to go to these clinics. Expand access, that’s what they said on the Fox 5. Sounds like they want everybody to be able to get help if they need it, even if they ain’t got a lot of money. That’s a good thing, I reckon. It’s the DHHS program that is doing that, I think.
You know, this whole Department of Health and Human Services, it’s a big deal. They got their fingers in everything, it seems like. From helpin’ little babies get born to makin’ sure old folks like me got their medicine. They even talk about that climate change stuff. They say it’s bad for our health. One of the largest departments, and they say it’s their job to keep us safe from the weather gettin’ all crazy. I don’t know about all that, but it’s what they said on the Fox 5.
This Robert F. Kennedy fella, he was all over the news. I think I saw his picture on the Fox 5, too. It’s the Department of Health and Human Services, that Robert F. Kennedy is a big deal for it. It’s a big job, runnin’ that whole Department of Health and Human Services. I hope he knew what he was gettin’ into, if he was really gonna do it. That’s a lot of responsibility, takin’ care of everybody’s health like that. He is related to that president from long time ago, you know. The one that got shot. Sad story, that was.
Anyways, this Department of Health and Human Services, they’re always doin’ somethin’. Givin’ out money, makin’ rules, tryin’ to keep us all healthy. It’s a big job, like I said. I just hope they know what they’re doin’. We’re all countin’ on ’em, I guess. Whether we like it or not. They give money directly to individuals, families and tribes, so I heard. Maybe the DHHS program will give me some money too, haha.
That Fox 5, they sure do like to talk about this Department of Health and Human Services. They talk about Robert F. Kennedy too. Guess it’s important stuff. Maybe I should pay more attention. But sometimes, it’s just all too much, you know? All these names and numbers and programs. It makes my head spin. But I guess it’s good to know what they’re up to. After all, it’s our health they’re messin’ with. And that DHHS program is huge, so it’s good to know what they are doing with all that money.
