Okay, so the other day, my partner and I were feeling kinda…blah. You know, same old routine, Netflix and chill getting a little too chill. So I was like, “Hey, let’s do something active together!” I remembered seeing some fun couple sports ideas online, and I thought, why not give it a shot?
First, we brainstormed a list. We jotted down everything that sounded remotely interesting, from badminton to… well, we considered bowling, but that felt more like a group thing. We wanted something we could really do together, you know?

Our List
- Badminton
- Tennis
- Hiking
- Cycling
- Kayaking (seasonal, obviously)
We decided to start with badminton. It seemed easy enough, and we already had some old rackets lying around. We headed to a local park, found a relatively empty spot, and…well, let’s just say our skills were a bit rusty.
We spent a good hour just hitting the shuttlecock back and forth (or, more accurately, trying to). There was a lot of laughter, a few near-misses with other park-goers, and some seriously questionable form. But you know what? It was fun. We were moving, we were laughing, and we were connecting in a way we hadn’t in a while.
We are not good at it. Seriously, our technique is probably appalling. But we’re planning to keep at it. Maybe even try some of the other things on our list. We considered to go hiking next weekend.
The whole point wasn’t to become Olympic athletes, it was to spend quality time together, get some exercise, and break out of our routine. And on that front, it was a total success. Even if we did look like a couple of goofballs flailing around in the park.
