Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with some Cougar stuff lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey. I’m no tech wizard, but I like to tinker, and I figured I’d share my experience with this whole Cougar ecosystem.
First off, I got my hands on this CORE BOX V3 lighting controller. The idea was to sync up all my RGB stuff. The box says it works with ASUS AURA SYNC and GIGABYTE RGB Fusion. Cool, right? Well, getting it all set up was a bit of a pain. I had to fiddle around with the settings quite a bit to get my motherboard to recognize the controller. But once it did, man, it was pretty slick. I could control all my lights from one place, which is exactly what I wanted.

Next up, I decided to try out a Cougar DualShock Wired Controller. I mainly game on my PS4, and sometimes on PS5. This controller feels solid, the buttons are responsive, and it’s comfortable to hold for those long gaming sessions. The analog sticks are nice and accurate, which is a big deal for me. Overall, it’s a pretty good controller for the price. It’s way better than those cheap knock-offs that break after a week.
Then there’s the power supply. I needed a new one for my build, and I saw that Cougar had the VTE X2 ARGB series. They got them in 550W, 650W, and 750W. I went with the 650W ’cause it seemed like a good middle ground. It’s got fixed cables, which can be a bit of a hassle for cable management, but I managed to make it work. I’ve been running it for a while now, and it’s been solid. No weird noises or anything like that. Some guy on a forum asked if these are any good and have longevity. Seemed stable, so I figured, why not?
I also got a look at the Gemini T case, which has this Trelux dynamic RGB thing. It’s basically three long RGB lenses that cover the front and top. It looks pretty awesome, especially when you have it all synced up with the lighting controller. I can change the lighting effects and it works great. Tag, it’s mainly for gaming.
I was really into making this whole setup work together. The idea of having everything synced up and looking good was what drove me. It was a bit of a challenge, especially figuring out the lighting controller and making sure all the parts played nice with each other.
The Final Result
In the end, I gotta say, it was worth it. My setup looks awesome now, and everything works together pretty seamlessly. I can control all my lights from one place, my controller feels great, and my power supply is doing its job. I even traced back some issues I was having with my old power supply. Turns out, it was causing some major computer issues. Formula auditing tools include a tracer, that helped me figure out the root of the problem. If you’re thinking about getting into the Cougar ecosystem, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared to do a bit of tinkering to get everything working the way you want. It’s not plug-and-play, but it’s definitely rewarding when you get it all set up. Cougar’s approach is definitely not the trend, but it’s a refreshing take.
