Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna share my little adventure of finding the best sports bars in Birmingham, Alabama. I’m a simple guy, I love my sports, a good cold beer, and some tasty grub. So, naturally, I went on a mission to find the perfect spot to catch a game.
First up, The Refinery
I started off at this place called The Refinery. Heard some good things about it, so I thought, why not? I walked in, and it was pretty decent. They had a bunch of TVs, which is always a good sign. I grabbed a seat at the bar, ordered a beer, and watched some college football. The crowd was lively, the beer was cold, and the food was alright. Not bad, not bad at all.

Moving on to The Upper Deck
Next, I hit up The Upper Deck. Now, this place was a bit more my style. It had that classic sports bar vibe, you know? Lots of wood, a big bar, and TVs everywhere you looked. I got myself a burger and a beer, and settled in for some NFL action. The burger was juicy, the beer was flowing, and the game was intense. I was having a blast!
Paramount, The Fennec, and Overtime Grill
- Then there was Paramount. It was more of a trendy spot, with a younger crowd. Not really my scene, but the drinks were good, and they had a decent selection of games on.
- The Fennec was another place I checked out. It was pretty fancy, with a big outdoor area. The food was a bit pricey, but it was delicious. I enjoyed a nice craft beer while watching some soccer.
- I also swung by Overtime Grill and Bar. This place was huge! It had a ton of TVs, a big menu, and a lively atmosphere. I had some wings and a pitcher of beer with some buddies, and we had a great time cheering on our team.
The Grocery Brew Pub and Walk-On’s
The Grocery Brew Pub was a cool little spot. They had a great selection of local beers, and the food was surprisingly good. I watched a basketball game there and had a nice, relaxing evening. And let’s not forget Walk-On’s. This place was like a sports fan’s dream. TVs everywhere, a huge menu, and a fun atmosphere. I went there for a big game, and it was packed! The energy was electric, and I had an unforgettable time.
Some Others: The Battery, Casey’s, The Red Shamrock…
- Oh, and I can’t forget The Battery and Casey’s Sports. The Battery was a bit more upscale, but still had that sports bar feel. Casey’s was a classic dive bar, but in the best way possible. Great for a cheap beer and some good company.
- I heard good things about The Red Shamrock Pub, The Goose, Surf Hound, and Super Bowling but didn’t get a chance to visit them yet.
Special Mentions: Good People Brewing, On Tap, Iron City, and Walkabout
Now, for some special mentions. Good People Brewing Company, On Tap Sports Cafe, and Iron City Bham are apparently great for sports, but I haven’t been yet. Gonna have to check those out soon. I also stumbled upon this place called Walkabout Birmingham that seems to show every Premier League match, and even live boxing! Sounds like a blast if you’re into that.
So, there you have it, folks! My journey through the sports bars of Birmingham. I tried a bunch, had some great times, and discovered some awesome spots. It wasn’t easy, you know, all that eating and drinking, but someone had to do it! I hope this helps you find your perfect game day hangout. Cheers!
