Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure of figuring out this whole “Seattle tech companies” thing.
So, I started out like anyone else would, I guess – I just Googled it! I mean, where else do you begin, right? I typed in “Seattle tech companies” and, boom, tons of stuff popped up.
First, I skimmed through a few of the general lists. You know, the ones that are like, “Top 10 Tech Companies in Seattle” or “Best Places to Work in Seattle Tech.” These were okay for getting a general sense of the big players. I jotted down a few names that kept coming up: you know, the usual suspects, the giants.
Then I thought, “Okay, I need to get a bit more specific.” I started looking at company websites directly. I wanted to see what they actually do. It’s one thing to see a company name on a list, but it’s another to understand their products, their mission, all that jazz.
I also checked out some articles and blog posts about the Seattle tech scene. I wanted to get a feel for the culture, the trends, what people are excited about. Reading employee reviews was super helpful, too. It’s one thing for a company to say how great it is, but you want the inside scoop, don’t you?
Next, I wanted to refine my research. I started considering different sub-industries. Is it Software service? Or cloud computing? Or maybe, the AI field? I have friends working there, I could ask them for imformation!

- I compiled my finding, and there were so many!
After all that digging, I felt like I had a pretty decent grasp of the landscape. I created a simple spreadsheet to organize the companies I was most interested in, with notes about their focus, size, and anything else that stood out. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it helped me keep track of everything.
So, that’s basically my process. It wasn’t rocket science, but it was a good way to get my head around the Seattle tech scene. I’m sure there are other ways to go about it, but this worked for me!
