Okay, so today I wanted to find some “behavioral health nurse jobs near me.” I’ve been feeling like it’s time for a change, you know? Been a nurse for a while now, and I’ve always been drawn to the mental health side of things. Figured it was time to really look into it.
First thing I did, naturally, was fire up my old laptop. It’s seen better days, but it still gets the job done. Opened up my browser and typed in “behavioral health nurse jobs near me.” Lots of stuff popped up, as expected.

I started clicking through the listings. There were a bunch on those job sites. You know the ones I’m talking about. Lots of scrolling. I spent a good hour just reading through different descriptions, trying to get a feel for what was out there.
Here’s what I noticed:
- A lot of the jobs were in hospitals. Makes sense, I guess. They mentioned things like “assessing patients,” “developing treatment plans,” and “working with a team.”
- There were also some openings at clinics and outpatient centers. Those seemed a bit more focused on individual therapy and counseling.
- Some of the listings talked about specific populations, like working with kids, veterans, or people struggling with addiction. That’s something I’d need to think about – who I really want to work with.
After a while, I decided to narrow down my search. I added some more specific keywords, like the names of towns close by and the type of setting I was interested in. That helped a bit to weed out some of the listings that weren’t a good fit.
Then, I started looking at the websites of the hospitals and clinics themselves. Wanted to get a better sense of their mission, their values, that kind of thing. You can tell a lot about a place from their website, believe it or not.
I made a list of about five places that seemed promising. Jotted down some notes about each one, like the specific job title, the requirements, and what I liked about the organization.
Next steps? Well, I need to update my resume. It’s been a while. Then I’ll start reaching out to those places, maybe send an email or give them a call to express my interest. And of course, I need to actually apply for the jobs.
Fingers Crossed!
It’s a bit nerve-wracking, putting myself out there like this. But it’s exciting too. I really think this could be a good move for me. I’ll keep you guys posted on how it goes! Wish me luck!
