Okay, here’s my blog post about trying to snag an entertainment job at Amazon:
Alright, so I’ve been on this job hunt, right? And I’ve always loved movies and TV, so I thought, “Why not try to get a job at Amazon? They do a lot of entertainment stuff.” Seemed like a good plan at the time. Here is the entire progress.

Scouring the Job Boards
First thing I did was hit up their careers website. I spent hours, seriously, hours, just browsing through all the listings. They have so many different departments and roles, it’s kinda overwhelming. I was mainly looking at stuff related to Prime Video, Amazon Studios, maybe even something with their gaming division.
I started filtering by location, keywords like “entertainment,” “content,” “production,” and “creative.” That helped narrow things down a bit, but there were still tons of options.
Crafting the Perfect Resume (Or Trying To)
Next up, the resume. Ugh. I knew I had to tailor it to each specific job, which is a pain, but I did it anyway. I made sure to highlight any experience that seemed even remotely relevant. Like, that time I volunteered at a film festival? Totally went on there. That online course I took about digital media? You bet it’s on there.I even quantified some of my achievements like “made five videos about…” and “I have managed…”.
I also spent way too long tweaking the wording of my resume, trying to make it sound as impressive as possible without, you know, straight-up lying.
The Application Process
Filling out the applications themselves was another whole ordeal. Each one had its own little quirks and questions. Some of them wanted a cover letter, some didn’t. Some had these weird personality assessments.I just answered all questions as much as I can.
I double-checked, triple-checked, and quadruple-checked everything before hitting submit. Typos are the enemy!
The Waiting Game
And then…the waiting. It’s the worst part. I applied to a bunch of different positions, and honestly, most of them just went into the void. I got a few automated rejection emails, which were a bummer. It is a total balck box.

A Glimmer of Hope (and then…Nothing)
But then, I actually got an email from a recruiter! I was so stoked. We scheduled a phone screen, and I spent days preparing. I researched common interview questions, practiced my answers, the whole nine yards.
The phone screen itself went pretty well, I thought. The recruiter seemed nice, and I felt like I articulated my experience and enthusiasm pretty clearly.
But then…more waiting. And eventually, another rejection email. Such is life.
Lessons Learned (and Still Looking)
So, I haven’t landed that dream Amazon job yet. But I’m not giving up. I’ve definitely learned a few things along the way:
- Networking is key. I need to connect with people who actually work there, maybe get some inside info.
- Persistence is important. I’m going to keep applying, keep refining my approach.
- It’s a numbers game. The more applications I send out, the better my chances…hopefully. I need to cast a wider net.
The job hunt continues! Wish me luck. It is tough and I still struggle with the application. But, I am still confident that I can get it.
