Okay, so, today I want to talk about my experience applying for a technical application specialist role at Abbott. It was quite a journey, and I figured I’d share the whole process, from start to finish.
Finding the Job
First things first, I had to find the job. I was browsing through different job portals, and then I stumbled upon Abbott’s career page. They had a bunch of openings, and this technical application specialist position caught my eye. I read through the description, and it seemed like a perfect fit for my skills. So, I decided to go for it.

Applying Online
I clicked on the “Apply Now” button, which took me to their application portal. The first step was to create a profile. I filled in all the usual stuff – name, contact details, work experience, education, you know, the whole nine yards. Then, I uploaded my resume and wrote a cover letter explaining why I was the right person for the job.
The Waiting Game
After submitting my application, the waiting game began. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking, you know? You keep checking your email every five minutes, hoping for some kind of update. Finally, after a couple of weeks, I got an email from Abbott saying they were interested in my application and wanted to move forward with the next steps.
Initial Screening
The next step was an initial screening. I got another email scheduling a phone call with one of their recruiters. The call went pretty smoothly. We talked about my background, my experience, and why I was interested in Abbott. It was more of a casual conversation to get a better sense of who I was and what I was looking for. I guess I did alright because a few days later, I got another email saying I’d passed the screening and they wanted to schedule a more technical interview.
The Digital Interview
This is where things got a bit more interesting. They sent me a link to a digital interview platform. Basically, I had to record myself answering a series of pre-recorded questions. It was a bit weird talking to a camera instead of a person, but I did my best to answer the questions clearly and concisely. Some of the questions were technical, related to the specific skills required for the job, while others were more behavioral, like “Tell me about a time you faced a challenging situation at work and how you handled it.”
Tracking My Application
After completing the digital interview, I logged into my candidate account on Abbott’s website to track my application status. It was helpful to see where I stood in the process. I received a confirmation email to create my account. The status changed a few times over the next couple of weeks, from “Under Review” to “Interview Stage” to finally, “Offer.”
Receiving the Offer
I was thrilled when I received the offer! All those steps, the waiting, the interviews – it all paid off. This job at Abbott is a great opportunity, and I’m really excited to be a part of their team. They really emphasize making a positive impact on the world through healthcare, and that aligns perfectly with my own values.
- It took me a few days to look over the offer letter and make sure everything was in order.
- Once I accepted the offer, the onboarding process began.
- I was excited to start my new role at Abbott.
So, that’s my experience applying for the technical application specialist position at Abbott. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it in the end. I hope this gives you a good idea of what to expect if you’re considering applying for a job at Abbott. Good luck!
