Okay, so I wanted to talk about this thing I’ve been fiddling with, this idea of creating some ‘astonish entertainment’. It sounds fancy, maybe, but for me, it was more about trying to make something genuinely cool and surprising, you know? Not just the usual stuff.
Getting the Idea
It started a few weeks back. I was just scrolling, seeing the same old content formats everywhere. Everything felt a bit predictable. I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be great to make something that actually makes someone pause and go ‘whoa’? That was the goal, the ‘astonish’ part. The ‘entertainment’ part was obvious – it had to be fun or interesting, not just weird for the sake of it.

First Steps and Trying Things Out
So, what did I actually do? Well, first, I didn’t really have a grand plan. I figured I’d start small.
- I pulled out my old tablet and tried some animation apps. My drawing is terrible, honestly, but I thought maybe some quirky, unexpected animation could work.
- Spent a good few hours trying to make a simple character do something totally out of the blue. Like, suddenly bursting into confetti or turning into a teapot.
- Then I messed around with some video editing software on my laptop. I took some mundane footage I had – just walking around the park – and tried overlaying weird sound effects or reversing short clips unexpectedly.
- I even tried writing a super short story, like only a few paragraphs, but with a completely bizarre twist at the very end. Something that makes you reread it immediately.
It was a lot of trial and error, mostly error if I’m being honest. Stuff looked clunky, the timing was off, the ideas felt a bit forced sometimes.
Hitting Some Walls
The main problem was figuring out what’s genuinely ‘astonishing’ versus just plain confusing or silly. It’s a fine line, right? I made this short clip where a cat video suddenly cut to complex math equations. I thought it was hilarious and unexpected. Showed it to my wife, she just looked baffled. Said it gave her a headache. So, yeah, audience perception is key, and hard to guess.
Also, the tools weren’t always helping. Free apps have limits, and the more professional software has a steep learning curve. I spent more time fighting with interfaces than actually creating sometimes. It got frustrating. You have this cool idea in your head, but getting it out there looking polished? That’s the tough part.
Where I’m At Now
So, did I create the ultimate piece of ‘astonish entertainment’? Nope. Not even close. What I ended up with was a bunch of weird little experimental files on my computer. Some animations that are kinda jerky, some video edits that are more odd than astonishing, and a few paragraphs of a story that probably only makes sense to me.
But the process itself was… interesting. It forced me to think differently about grabbing attention. It wasn’t about slick production value, but about the core idea, the surprise. I learned that just trying to be different isn’t enough; it needs some kind of internal logic or emotional hook, even if it’s absurd.
I haven’t given up on the idea entirely. Maybe I’ll revisit those files later, or try a different approach. For now, it’s back to more straightforward projects, but with a little bit more appreciation for how hard it is to truly surprise people in a good way. It’s definitely something to keep thinking about.
