So, I’ve been poking around the idea of buying a business in Spokane. Gotta start somewhere, right? First thing I did was just straight-up Googled “Spokane business for sale”. I mean, why not? It’s 2024, everything’s online.
The results? A total mixed bag. I got a bunch of listing sites, some of which looked pretty legit, others… not so much. I spent a good chunk of an afternoon just clicking through, getting a feel for what was out there.

Digging Deeper
After the initial broad search, I decided to get a little more specific. I started thinking about what kind of business I might actually want to run. I’ve always loved messing around craft, so started looking into them.
I refined my searches: “manufacturing business for sale Spokane,” “small retail business Spokane,” stuff like that. This definitely helped narrow things down. I started seeing some businesses that, at least on paper, looked kinda interesting.
Making a List (and Checking it Twice)
I started a simple spreadsheet – nothing fancy, just something to keep track of the businesses that caught my eye. I jotted down the name, the asking price (if it was listed), the type of business, and any notes that stood out. This helped me compare things a bit more easily.
- Business Name: Obvious, but helpful.
- Asking Price: Gotta know if it’s even in the realm of possibility.
- Type: Retail? Restaurant? Service? Makes a big difference.
- Notes: Anything that jumped out – good or bad.
First Contact
For a couple of businesses that seemed promising, I went ahead and filled out the “contact seller” forms on the listing sites. I kept my inquiries pretty general – just expressing my interest and asking for some more information. No point in getting too deep before I knew more, you know?
It’s still early days, and I haven’t heard back from everyone yet. One place sent me a pretty detailed prospectus, which was cool. Another just sent a short email saying they’d be in touch “soon.” We’ll see how that goes. The whole thing is a process, that’s for sure. it needs time to finish all. And I am still working on it.
