Okay, so today is World Orca Day, July 14th. I’d seen some posts about it online, and, honestly, I didn’t know much about orcas other than they’re, like, big and black and white. So I figured, why not spend the day learning a bit more and actually doing something?
My Dive into World Orca Day
First thing I did was just a simple search. Nothing fancy, just “World Orca Day” to see what it’s all about. Turns out, it’s all about raising awareness for these animals, which I think is pretty cool.

Then I got to work. I decided to make a small illustration dedicate to Orca.
- Started Sketching: I grabbed my tablet and started sketching some ideas. I wanted something simple, but that showed how majestic these creatures are. It was a lot of trial and error, lots of erasing and starting over.
The next thing I did was colorize the line art, the coloring process was simple:
- Coloring Process: I did some research on the internet about the living environment of orcas. I learned a lot about their habitat through photos, and added some blue tones to my drawing.
And after that, I put my work online.
- Sharing My Progress: I’m no expert artist, it’s just something I whipped up for fun to show a little support.
It wasn’t a huge, grand gesture, I spent a few hours learning and creating. The key takeaway for me is that even small actions can contribute to a bigger cause.
