Okay, here’s my blog post about “United Technologies”, written from a personal, hands-on perspective:
So, I got my hands dirty with United Technologies stuff today. I’ve been hearing about them for a while, big company, lots of different parts, you know? I decided to really dig in and see what I could make of it all.

First, I spent some time trying to figure them out. Started with the basics, like just browsing. I figured, “Okay, what are they, anyway?” It seemed like a pretty broad topic at first, covering everything from elevators to jet engines.
Then I started messing around a little. I’ve got experience with other big companies, so my next task was to try and see what they offer. They’re not really known for the software. I thought, “How can I make this stuff talk to other stuff?”.
I spent a solid hour or two just playing around, making some notes. I realized a couple of things:
- They’re huge. Seriously, this is a big operation, covering many industries.
- Diverse technologies. They have a bunch of diffrent areas, meaning some areas might be more developed than others.
- It’s a lot to take in. I felt like I only scratched the surface, I didn’t know if I’d even be able to learn anything new.
I played around with trying to connect some of the ideas, just to see what would happen. For example, I thought about how their aerospace division could apply to other fields.
By the end of the day, I felt like I had a better, though still pretty basic, grasp of what United Technologies is all about. It was a good learning experience. Definitely showed me that there’s a massive amount of stuff going on, and it’s going to take way more than a day to really figure it all out!
