Okay, so today I decided to figure out what this “blue wall” thing in politics actually is. I’ve heard the term thrown around a lot, especially during election season, but I never really understood what it meant, I will find out the truth.
My Investigation Process
First, I opened my browser. I just used the regular search engine, nothing fancy.

Then I just typed in “what is the blue wall in politics” into the search bar and hit enter.
Lots of stuff came up! News articles, Wikipedia, some political blogs – you name it. I started clicking on a few of the links that looked promising.
I skimmed a bunch of articles. Honestly, a lot of it was kind of confusing at first, with all the political jargon. But I kept reading, and started to piece things together. I am sure the core point will show up.
Key Things that I found
- It refers to a group of states that usually vote Democrat in presidential elections.
- These states were considered pretty reliably Democratic for a while, like a “wall” of blue (Democrat color) on the election map.
- The key factor is the states’ history, demographics, and voting patterns.
So, basically, I learned that the “blue wall” isn’t a real, physical wall (obviously!). It’s more of a political idea, a way to describe states that tend to vote the same way. And it seems like it’s not as solid of a “wall” as it used to be, which makes things more interesting, I guess!
