So, the other day, I was thinking about trying something new in the kitchen, and I remembered seeing something about cornmeal being good for you. I figured, why not give it a shot? I’ve always been a fan of cornbread, so I was curious to see what else I could do with it.
First, I went to the grocery store to pick up some cornmeal. I grabbed a bag of the medium-grind stuff, not really knowing what I was going to do with it. When I got home, I started looking up some recipes online. I found a whole bunch of things – from pancakes to pizza crust. I decided to start simple and try making some cornmeal porridge.

- Started with the basics: I poured some water into a pot and brought it to a boil.
- Mixed it up: Then, I slowly whisked in the cornmeal, making sure it didn’t clump up.
- Let it simmer: I turned down the heat and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring every now and then.
- Checked the texture: I was looking for it to be creamy but not too thick.
It actually turned out pretty good! I added a little bit of honey and some fruit on top, and it was a tasty and filling breakfast. It was super easy to make too. I’m definitely going to try making other stuff with cornmeal now.
Exploring more options
After that success, I got a bit bolder. I tried making some cornbread, and that was a hit with the family. Then I experimented with using cornmeal as a breading for chicken, and it turned out crispy and delicious. I also made some other attempts, some of them are successful, others are not. Maybe I will share them some day.
I’m really glad I decided to give cornmeal a try. It’s versatile, easy to work with, and a great way to add something different to your meals. Plus, it seems like it’s pretty good for you, which is always a bonus. I’m no expert, but from what I’ve seen, it seems like a solid addition to a balanced diet. I can’t wait to share more in the future, stay tuned!
