Okay, so a few weeks ago, I was flipping through channels and landed on this cooking show. They were talking all about olive oil and stuff. Got me thinking, is that olive oil spray I use actually good for me? I mean, I started using it to cut down on calories, but is it really doing anything good health-wise?
So, I started digging around. I grabbed my phone and just started searching on Google. There’s a ton of stuff out there about olive oil, but not as much specifically about the spray version. I checked out some health blogs, watched a few videos, and even went down a rabbit hole of scientific articles. Turns out, olive oil, in general, is pretty awesome. It’s packed with those monounsaturated fats that are supposed to be good for your heart.

- First off, I looked at the labels on a few different brands of olive oil spray. Some of them are just straight-up olive oil, but others have extra stuff in them like propellants and other additives.
- Then, I compared that to regular olive oil. The main difference seems to be how it’s used. With the spray, you’re likely to use less oil overall, which means fewer calories. But, you’re still getting those healthy fats.
I decided to do a little experiment at home. I cooked the same meal a few times, once with the spray and once just pouring olive oil from the bottle. I tried to measure out about the same amount of oil each time. Honestly, I didn’t notice a huge difference in taste. But I did notice that when I used the spray, I ended up using less oil because it distributes more evenly.
I’ve been using the olive oil spray for a couple of weeks now, just to see how it goes. I feel good about it. It’s an easy way to cook with less oil, and I like knowing that I’m still getting some of those health benefits from the olive oil. Plus, it’s super convenient for just quickly greasing a pan or spraying over some veggies before roasting.
My two cents?
Olive oil spray seems like a decent option if you’re watching your calorie intake but still want the perks of olive oil. Just make sure to check the ingredients and pick one that’s as close to pure olive oil as possible.
