So, I finally took the plunge and tried out Bellevue Underwater Sports. I’d been wanting to get into diving for ages, and this place kept popping up whenever I’d search around. Figured it was time to see what all the fuss was about.
First off, I signed up for their beginner course. It wasn’t just some quick “here’s how you breathe” thing. These guys were serious. We spent a good chunk of time in the classroom, going over the basics of diving – gear, safety, all that jazz. I gotta say, it was a bit overwhelming at first, but the instructors were super chill and made sure we all got it.
Next up, we hit the pool. This was where the real fun began. Putting on all that gear felt weird at first – the wetsuit, the BCD, the fins. It’s like becoming a different creature. Then, jumping into the water, I definitely had a moment of “what am I doing?” But once I started breathing through the regulator, it was like a whole new world opened up.

- We practiced a bunch of skills – clearing our masks, sharing air, controlling our buoyancy.

After a few pool sessions, we were ready for the open water. We headed out to a local lake, and let me tell you, it was a completely different experience. The visibility wasn’t great, and it was definitely colder, but seeing actual fish and underwater plants made it all worthwhile.
We did a couple of dives, practicing the same skills we learned in the pool. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but the instructors were right there with us, making sure we were okay. By the end of the day, I was exhausted but stoked. I actually felt like a diver!
Overall, I’d say my experience with Bellevue Underwater Sports was pretty darn good. I’m stoked to keep going, maybe get more diving certifications. If you are thinking about getting into diving around here, you should try them out.
