Okay, so I spent a good chunk of my day wrestling with the “politico marco crossword.” Let me tell you, it wasn’t a walk in the park. I started off feeling pretty confident, you know? I mean, how hard could it be? Turns out, pretty damn hard.
First, I printed out the crossword. It looked innocent enough, sitting there on my desk. Then I started filling in the easy ones, the ones I knew right off the bat. That’s always a good feeling, that initial rush of success.

- Then there was something about “Rep. Ruben Gallego is giving his party something to celebrate.” Okay, I jotted that down.
But then things got tricky. There were clues about “President Joe Biden’s sweeping climate and social spending bill” and how it was “faltering in the Senate.” I had to really rack my brain for that one. My mind went to some recent news about an election where “Kevin Quinn won his second term as Bartlett’s Position 6 alderman.”
And the clues just kept getting harder. I hit a wall when it came to the clue about the “Presidential election, Senate and House of Representatives.” I mean seriously. I started second-guessing myself, erasing answers, and scribbling in new ones. It was a mess. I even found myself thinking about a random article that mentioned “NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte is seeking to start off on the right foot with Donald Trump.” What? How did that even get in there?
I poured over some stuff about the election, trying to piece it together. I remember seeing something like “USA TODAY is bringing you all the live updates and election results you need as you head to the polls this Election Day 2024.” It did not help much.
Honestly, I almost gave up a few times. I thought, “Why am I doing this to myself?” But I’m not one to back down from a challenge, so I pressed on. I googled a few things, read some articles about “Cities with open seats on the November ballot include; Adams, Cedar Hill, Springfield, Cross Plains” to refresh my memory. It was a slow and painful process.
Finally, after hours of struggle, I managed to fill in the last square. It wasn’t pretty, and there were definitely a few guesses in there, but I did it. I actually completed the darn thing.
So, yeah, that was my day with the “politico marco crossword.” It was a wild ride, full of frustration and a few small victories. Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, at least I can say I conquered it. Or maybe it conquered me. I’m still not sure.
