Okay, so I was looking into the top cities around the world, and Seattle caught my eye. I started digging into it, and here’s what I found.
First, I checked out this report from Resonance Consultancy. They do real estate and tourism stuff. They had just put out their list of the top 100 cities for 2025, and guess what? Seattle was right there at number 19! That’s a big jump from last year when it was at 34. I thought, “Wow, that’s impressive!”

Diving into the Details
Then, I started looking at what made Seattle rank so high. Turns out, it’s doing really well in a few key areas. For instance, it’s 4th in the world for universities! That’s huge! I mean, I knew Seattle had some good schools, but 4th in the entire world? That’s something else. And it’s not just universities. It’s also 26th in educational attainment, which means the people there are pretty well-educated. This made me think Seattle is a great place for smart people.
Another thing that stood out was the GDP per capita. Seattle is 10th in the world for that. That means people there are making good money. It’s a wealthy city, no doubt about it. This made me a bit worried about the cost of living, though.
Comparing with Others
I also looked at this other list, the Global Liveability Index from The Economist Intelligence Unit. It ranks 173 cities based on things like healthcare, culture, and infrastructure. I didn’t find Seattle in the top 10 there, but it was still pretty high up. The top cities on that list were places like Zurich, Vienna, and Copenhagen. I noticed a lot of European cities up there.
- Top 10 for Quality of Living: Zurich, Vienna, Geneva, Copenhagen, Auckland, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Frankfurt, Bern, Basel.
- Bottom 10: Tripoli, Ouagadougou, Kinshasa, Damascus, N’djamena, Port-Au-Prince, Sanaa, Bangui, Baghdad, Khartoum.
Then there’s the cost of living. I found this report that said consumer prices in Seattle were almost 13% higher than the U.S. average last year. That makes it the fifth most expensive region in the country! I started to realize that while Seattle is great in a lot of ways, it’s not exactly cheap to live there.
Final Thoughts
So, after all this digging, I’ve got a pretty good picture of Seattle. It’s a city with amazing universities, a strong economy, and a well-educated population. It’s definitely up there among the best cities in the world. But, it’s also pretty expensive. I guess that’s the price you pay for quality. I’m still impressed, though. Seattle is 4th in the world in one of the important rankings! That’s a big deal, and it shows that the city has a lot to offer. The more I learned, the more I understood why it’s ranked so highly.
