Okay, so, I got into this thing called “pencil fighting” the other day, and let me tell you, it’s way more fun than it sounds. I stumbled upon it on YouTube, I watched some videos about pencil fighting, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It seemed like a simple game, something to kill time with, but I ended up getting really into it.
I started by grabbing a couple of pencils. Just regular ones, nothing fancy. I practiced with myself at first, getting a feel for the grip and the moves. It felt a bit weird, to be honest, holding a pencil like you’re about to go into battle, not just write down a grocery list.
- Gripping the pencil: I tried a few different grips. At first, I held it like I would if I was writing normally, but that didn’t give me much control or power. Then I tried holding it lower down, closer to the tip, and that felt a lot better. I could really swing it with some force.
- The stance: Just standing there like a normal person wasn’t going to cut it. I found that if I lowered my center of gravity a little bit, like I was getting ready to pounce, I felt more stable and ready to react.
- The attack: This is where it got interesting. I started with simple swings, trying to hit my other hand (which was also holding a pencil). It was harder than I thought! I had to aim while also trying to block the other pencil.
- The defense: Blocking was tough. I learned that it was more about deflecting the other pencil rather than trying to stop it completely. Small, quick movements worked best.
After practicing on my own for a while, I roped in a buddy to try it out for real. We set some ground rules – no hitting fingers, keep it above the table, and the first one to break the other’s pencil wins. The first few rounds were clumsy. We were both laughing and fumbling, but slowly, we started getting better.
I noticed my friend was really aggressive, always going for the big swings. So I adjusted my strategy. I started focusing more on defense, deflecting his attacks and waiting for an opening. And it worked! I managed to snap his pencil in half during one of his wild swings.
Lessons Learned
It’s all about practice and finding your own style. Some people are more aggressive, others are more defensive. You gotta figure out what works best for you. Also, it’s important to stay focused. One lapse in concentration, and your pencil could be in two pieces. And of course, it’s about having fun. It’s a silly game, but it’s a great way to blow off some steam and have a good laugh. Finally, I won the game, because I am the best, and no one can beat me.
So, yeah, that’s my pencil fighting journey so far. It’s been a blast, and I’m definitely going to keep at it. Maybe I’ll even start a pencil fighting club. Who knows? The possibilities are endless when you’ve got a pencil and a competitive spirit.
