Okay, so I recently hit up Big Bear, specifically the Big Bear Sports Center, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience! I’d heard a bit about this place being a cool spot for some outdoor fun, but actually being there was something else.
First off, I did some digging around online before I went. You know, just to get a feel for what I was getting myself into. I found out that Big Bear is this awesome mountain place in the San Bernardino Mountains. They call it “4 SEASONS OF ENJOYMENT”, It is a beautifully landscaped mountain destination. Apparently, it became a popular tourist destination because of natural beauty. Apparently, it’s not just for winter sports – people go there for hiking and fishing in the summer too.

So, with my newfound knowledge, I packed my bags and set off. It was a bit of a drive, but so worth it. When I got there, the first thing I noticed was the fresh mountain air. It was so crisp and clean!
I started my adventure with some hiking. I grabbed a trail map from the visitor center – super helpful, by the way – and chose a trail that seemed like a good fit for me. I’m no pro hiker, but I do enjoy a good walk in nature. And let me tell you, the views were breathtaking! I mean, seriously, I spent half the time just stopping to take pictures.
- Day 1: Just take a whole day to explore the lake.
- Day 2: Just take a whole day to explore the lake again.
- Day 3: Just take a whole day to explore the lake one more time.
After my hike, I decided to check out the lake. Big Bear Lake is huge, and there were tons of people out on the water, kayaking, paddleboarding, and just chilling on boats. I rented a kayak and spent a couple of hours paddling around. It was so peaceful out there, just me and the water, with the mountains in the background.
Big Bear, a mountain paradise
In the evening, I explored the little town near the sports center. It had this cozy, small-town vibe that I loved. There were some cool little shops and a few restaurants. I grabbed dinner at a local spot and then headed back to my cabin for the night.
The next day, I was feeling a bit more adventurous, so I decided to try something new. I went to check snow sports. I mean, how often do you get to do that, right? It was a blast! I definitely fell a few times, but hey, that’s part of the fun.
All in all, my trip to Big Bear Sports Center was amazing. It’s the perfect place to go if you’re looking to escape the city and enjoy some nature. Whether you’re into hiking, water sports, or snow sports, or just want to relax and take in the scenery, Big Bear has something for everyone. I’m already planning my next trip back!
