Man, I gotta tell you about this place I went to the other day – Big Bear Sports Center in Montana. I’d heard about it before, figured it was just another sporting goods store, but boy was I wrong. This place is HUGE!
So, I headed over to Billings, where the store’s located. It’s on 2618 King Ave W, for those who wanna check it out. I drove up, and the first thing I noticed was the parking – tons of it! No circling around for a spot, which was a nice change.

Walked inside, and my jaw dropped. I mean, they say it’s Montana’s largest sporting goods store, and they ain’t kidding. It’s 40,000 square feet of outdoorsy stuff! I was like a kid in a candy store.
- They got everything you could possibly need for outdoor adventures. Camping gear? Check. Hiking boots? Check. Fishing rods? You betcha! I could barely decide what to get!
- I spent a good hour just wandering around, checking out the different sections. They even had a bunch of products made right here in Montana, which I thought was pretty cool.
I also found out they have another location in Great Falls, at 121 Northwest Bypass, if that’s closer to you.
Anyways, I ended up grabbing a new pair of hiking boots and a few other things that caught my eye. The staff were super helpful, too. They answered all my questions and even gave me some tips on good hiking trails in the area. They told me that I can contact them via phone at (406) 652-5999 for pricing, hours, and directions.
I even got a quick tip, there is a new Sierra store that opened up in Big Bear Sports Center in Billings! It just opened on May 13th.
My Impression
Overall, I was really impressed with Big Bear Sports Center. It’s way more than just a store – it’s like an experience. If you’re into outdoor stuff, or even if you’re just looking for some new gear, I highly recommend checking it out. You won’t be disappointed!
Oh, and the area around the store is beautiful too! Glacier National Park is not far away, with all those sparkling streams and snow-capped mountains. It’s a postcard everywhere you look. It makes you want to get out there and explore. I picked up a few trail maps at Big Bear, so I’m all set for my next adventure!
It was a good day, and I discovered a new favorite place. Can’t wait to go back, maybe next time I’ll make a whole weekend of it, do some camping, and some hiking in Glacier National Park. They have all that MSR gear I love, so I’m sure I’ll find something new to try out! I will go to the store again soon.
