Okay, so I’ve been hunting for a job in behavioral health in Seattle, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started out with high hopes, thinking, “Seattle’s a big city, there’s gotta be tons of opportunities, right?” Well, yeah, there are, but it’s not as simple as just snapping your fingers.
First, I hit up the usual job sites. You know, the big ones that everyone uses. I typed in “behavioral health jobs Seattle” and filtered by “entry-level” because, you know, gotta start somewhere. I found a bunch of listings, like, over a thousand! “Crisis Counselor”, “Behavioral Health Manager”, that kind of stuff. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
- Seriously, this place has everything. I spent hours just scrolling through listings.
- Professional Network: I also reached out to some old colleagues and professors to see if they knew of anything. A few leads, but nothing solid.
Then, I started digging deeper. I looked into specific hospitals and clinics in the Seattle area. I checked out their websites, browsed their careers pages, and even sent out a few cold emails. Not gonna lie, it felt a little like shouting into the void sometimes.
I also tried searching for “mental health jobs” to see if that would bring up different results. It did, but it was mostly more of the same. I even looked into “Behavioral Health Clinician” roles, thinking maybe I could leverage my background a bit more. There were fewer of those, but still some possibilities.
Honestly, the whole process has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Some days, I feel super motivated, applying to everything that looks remotely interesting. Other days, I get discouraged, wondering if I’ll ever find the right fit. But I keep pushing forward because I know this is what I want to do.
So, after all that, I’ve applied to a good chunk of jobs – I’d say around 177 in total. Got a few interviews lined up, which is exciting! Still waiting to hear back from a bunch of places, though. It’s a waiting game, but I’m staying positive. It’s all part of the process, I guess. I learned a lot so far, and I will find a good fit job eventurally.
