Okay, so I’ve been digging into Travis Scott lately, not just his music, but the whole package, you know? And I gotta say, the dude’s relationship with politics is kinda fascinating, and I wanted to share what I found with you all.
It all started when I was listening to “Astroworld” – yeah, I know, old news, but it got me thinking. The name itself is a throwback to this theme park in Houston, where he’s from. I was curious, and I ended up on this whole rabbit hole. Started reading about how he dropped out of college, went to New York, then LA, chasing his music dream. Met T.I. along the way, and even got picked up by Kanye’s label, Good Music. Crazy, right?
Then, I found some interviews where he talked about “Astroworld” being like a continuation of his first album, “Rodeo.” He’s got this whole vision, I think, trying to capture a feeling, a vibe. Anyway, that’s when I stumbled onto his thoughts about what’s going on in the world, especially with racial injustice.
This one interview really got me. He basically said he sees himself as a “tool” for the cause. He’s willing to use his fame and money to help out. He said people are finally waking up to all the messed up stuff that’s been happening, and that’s deep. That’s when I started to go deeper into his political side.
And guess what? He also talked about how he doesn’t like getting into politics because people always twist his words. So, he’s walking this fine line, you know? Trying to do good, but also careful about how he’s perceived. That’s tricky, especially in today’s world, with social media and everything.
And then, there’s the whole Astroworld Festival tragedy. I read an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, where he finally opened up about it. And I felt him there, he was just trying to explain himself. And then I thought, he just released a new album after all this, “Utopia” which had some controversies too, but that’s a whole other story.
I also found out about his old mixtapes, “Owl Pharaoh” and “Days Before Rodeo”. Apparently, the second one was released again recently, like a 10-year anniversary thing. And I found out he did a few things at Lollapalooza which made some people look at him differently, he told people to do some crazy stuff on stage.
So, here’s the thing. I started this whole journey just being curious about a song, and ended up learning a bunch about Travis Scott, his music, and his views on the world. He’s definitely a complex guy, and his relationship with politics is just one part of it. But I thought it was interesting enough to share.
Here’s what I did in a nutshell:

- Listened to “Astroworld” and got curious about the name.
- Read about his early life and career moves.
- Found interviews where he talked about social issues.
- Watched his interview about the Astroworld tragedy.
- Looked up his older mixtapes and his past controversies.
It’s kinda crazy how one thing leads to another, right? I just wanted to share my little journey with you guys. Maybe you’ll find it interesting too.
